All of them had either been working as an aid worker in Africa prior to getting Ebola or were treating people that had gone to Africa and gotten the disease.

Web definitions
Panethnicity (from Ancient Greek, πᾶν pan "entire", and ἔθνος ethnos "nation") is the grouping together, and collective labeling, of various independently dinstinguishable, self-identified and self-sustained ethnicities into one all-encompassing group of people.

Grouping together the speakers of the language arabic does define these people. They could have been adopted into a family that taught them the language or decended from a long bloodline of people who spoke it.

They are identified as such on one or more of genealogical, linguistic, or cultural grounds. here is your direct fucking quote.

"They are identified as such on one or more of genealogical, linguistic, or cultural grounds."

Key word being "or".

Genealogical, linguistic, or cultural grounds

Learn what a comma means in a list.

ge·ne·al·o·gy (jn-l-j, -l-, jn-)
n. pl. ge·ne·al·o·gies
1. A record or table of the descent of a person, family, or group from an ancestor or ancestors; a family tree.
2. Direct descent from an ancestor; lineage or pedigree.
3. The study or investigation of ancestry and family histories.

So if I'm Asian it's assumed my ancestors were Asian and not Black, White, Hispanic, or a dolphin. Since I have the traits of an Asian, the slanted eyes, the pale skin, jet black hair, dark brown eyes, etc... it can be assumed that I am Asian. Let's go deeper. Say I'm Chinese, you can tell by the difference in face. We look slightly different from the Japanese and Koreans and other Asians including Indians. The Chinese, like Arabs, are defined both by language and looks. Arabs have a distinct look but if I look Chinese and don't speak Chinese I'm still Chinese.

cul·tur·al (klchr-l)
Of or relating to culture or cultivation.

Going off of your wrong definition of what defines a people, if I see a Chinese person, I can assume that they use chopsticks, pride themselves on their studies, and other cultural things. Same with Arabs.

Saying an Arab is defined solely by language is like saying the Chinese are defined by language. That's why you're wrong. Also, saying that you can't tell if someone is Arab by looking at them is like saying you can't tell if someone is Chinese by looking at them. Or Black, or Hispanic, etc...

I never once said that speaking a language defines every group of people. Chinese are residents of china. That is how you group THEM. And yes, he is a bandwagon faggot, because instead of trying to push forward a fact, he merely insulted me. How this makes him a bandwagon faggot? Because the only reason one would do that is to gain thumbs. And again, Arabic is one of the few cultures you can define by their language. And you want to know why I called you an asshole? Because i'm fucking sick of replying to all of these jackasses. Want an accurate fucking quote? Let me copy paste the whole fucking paragraph.

You stated the Arabic people were defined by language so I countered with examples. I'm Chinese but I'm not a resident of China. Huh how does that work? Genes.

No, he is not a bandwagoning faggot but merely a poor speaker who has nothing important to say. That is not a bandwagoner. Similar in many aspects but still different.

I never stated that you cannot define Arabs via their language but it is not the sole method. There are very distinct characteristics.

This might be racist but they kind of look the same.

If you're tired of replying then don't.

I appreciate the level of hostility decreasing. Yes, you are genetically chinese. I still think he saw a comment with red thumbs and instantly decided the best way to gain green thumbs was to insult. It's a common trend on funnyjunk.

Going off your original definition of an Arab:

"I love how nobody pointed out that it is impossible to "look arab" Being an Arab means that you speak Arabic. A language. How can someone look like they speak a certain language?"

So if I go talk to my brother who doesn't speak Chinese but I do... does that mean I'm Chinese and he's not?

Same with Arabs. If a family of Arabs has it so that the parents speak Arabic but the kids do not because they were raised elsewhere, does it make it so that the children are not Arabic?

No, that is stupid. My accurate quote, unlike your butchered one, states that ones culture and genes dictate whether or not someone is an Arab or Chinese or Hispanic.

That being said, have you taken basic Biology even in Middle School? Like, paid attention for 1 minute? If not, please, go back to school. If so, then you should know that genes also define how we look, our hair, eyes, skin, the very shape of our skeletal structure.

Need I go on? I can do this all day. I can pick apart every one of your moronic sentences.

"never been to 9gag, never will go there. I'm glad you're another bandwagon faggot who think that a comment with red thumbs is instantly wrong."

I love how you assume when someone disagrees with you they're automatically bandwagoning. Hypocrisy.

"No, of course not, one also has to be born into speaking it."

So if I grow up in Mexico and speak Spanish as a primary language am I no longer Asian? Am I no longer Chinese? That is flawed logic. According to your mis-quoted source, language is not the only dictation. If that were the case, in the example above, I'd be a Hispanic... even if I ate food that was Chinese, dressed Chinese, acted Chinese, and looked Chinese... as long as I speak Spanish I am Hispanic and not Chinese?

"actually, I went offline before the asshole started talking to me."

Ad hominem attacks.

When you can do nothing to disprove another, just fall back on the old "insult him in some way not pertaining to the argument". Mature.

You have nothing to say so, instead, you call someone an asshole because he destroyed your "argument".
