on the scale of things, i don't consider human beings all that important in the long run. no matter what dictatorship there is, the people have the true power. Make the people want a certain thing and they will go get it. you just have to make them want it a certain way. we all want the economy to do well, we all just have different preferences on how they want it.

People do not have power under a dictatorship.

Let the market be free and people will buy things they deem necessary/desire and the economy will grow.

Hitler and most of Germany wanted the Jews to die. They got it done. Killing people is just a part of this world. People die. some sooner than others. when dictatorships are in place, crime is at a low. with the right people involved the economy would prosper under their leadership. Germany and the US quickly recovered from their economic collapse just moments after FDR and Hitler came into power. With one power and unity with the people, things get done. But with one power and the people not unified with the leader, shit becomes chaos like most dictatorships out there now. The lack of control on the economy leads to the businessmen playing with the stock market in a way that would lead us to downfall and that happened twice. the depression and the recession was caused by greedy businessmen that inflated the stocks and quickly sold it and made a profit out of inside information causing a domino effect. 2 times that happened. Although our recession had 2 things involved such as the people themselves taking too many house loans for houses they couldn't afford. the human population is stupid as a whole and the chaos needs to be controlled. but when the ones that are supposed to control the chaos are in chaos. that is when a dictator rises according to history. only because we need it and we let it happen. I would give it 50 years before that really happens if our government is this split apart.

So you are forgiving Hitler for killing the Jews by his economic success?

Here's a question. Lets say you have someone that you absolutely love in office and you give him ultimate power. That power then stays with that position and someone gets elected that you do not like. He then uses that power and harms millions of people. Should that power remain? How would you feel if you were a Jew in Nazi Germany?

And again on the Great Depression and Recession you are wrong. The market did not cause those collapses. Right before our last recession, the federal reserve pumped in tons of money which created tremendous inflation. It is fairly similar for the Great Depression. The Federal Reserve mandated that all banks remain closed for a set amount of time, this made the situation far worse.
And to make things worse, every time the economy does well the Federal Reserve report always claims that the Federal Reserve is the main component to economic success. Every time the economy does not do well, the Federal Reserve Report claims that the market is to blame for economic failure. Doesn't that sound odd?

other countries with less power in their governments aren't as fucked up as we are right now. but by dictatorship, I am talking about when FDR was in charge and he basically had all parts of the government under his control. what is the point of having a president, if he doesn't have the power to settle the deadlock between the 2 houses.

No, absolutely not. Have you not heard of the distribution of powers? This is so one majority cannot have too much power. Power breeds corruption don't you know?

And by the way FDR was the one who placed Japanese US citizens in intern camps (woefully unconstitutional) so now do you believe that power needs to be concentrated?

some may argue that the president may have the ability to ignore congress and house of reps according to section 4 of the 14th amendment. Personally I think it is a bit of a stretch. There just needs to be some sort of fail safe to guard against a government shut down due to the two houses not getting along. If government fails this much, they really shouldn't be meddling in the economy. all I am saying is that when one part of the government is broken, there should be something from the 2 other parts that should fix it. I doubt we can as a whole since humans tend to disagree. You sure are convincing me that America should become a dictatorship.
User avatar
#350 - volleys (10/17/2013) [-]
You missed the whole point entirely. In fact, I want the complete opposite of a dictatorship. Less power needs to be placed in government. It has nothing to do with the 2 houses disagreeing, it just so happens that they disagree at this moment. Republicans tend to disagree with Democrats, its just that simple.

TL;DR Because the government disagrees so much and makes situations worse, less government and more free enterprise is needed.

I was being rhetorical on why they wanted 2 houses. but it was a bad move that is causing a lot of problems now. It was a quick fix back then that is causing a huge rift in the government now
