A Dragon-type would make the most sense, because of the earlier pattern. Every Eeveelution so far has been of the classic Special types (the types that made use of Sp. Att. instead of Att. prior to generation IV), and Dragon is the last one left.
It seems much more likely to be a Flying- or Normal-type, though.
User avatar #80 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]
Actually there is also another thing supporting the argument. storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/eeveelotion_thumb.jpg In this picture we see each eeveelution across from an eeveelution it is strong against. Leafeon vaporeon, flareon glaceon, umbreon espeon, and jolteon sylveon. Leaving three possible options: Flying, ground, or water. We already have a water type. And it doesn't look too ground. BTW It's based on a sylph which i guess is the same thing as a nymph.
User avatar #81 - mutzaki (03/01/2013) [-]
I have somewhat embraced the newer theory of it being a whole new type. I think the Flying-type argument still stands pretty strong, even though it would make for quite a terrible Flying-type design. It just doesn't look nearly enough to be a Flyer, even though it's likely to be one.
It could very well be a new "light" type Pokémon, in my opinion. Especially considering how secretive Game Freak is being about its typing and way to evolve.
User avatar #82 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]
I do see where you're coming from and there have been quite the number of rumors about two new types but I just feel like if they would've gone all out and introduce new types might as well do it when black and white 2 came out. They did massive things for pokemon like elevating Bug types to a whole new level, and Black and white 2 had a 300 pokemon regional dex. Which I'm sure you know is massive. And the pokemon that you can obtain aren't bad. You can get magnemite and riolu before you're first badge. So why not just make the game a huge hit and introduce the new types? Now Nintendo did say that black and white 1 were meant to be games that potrayed how they wanted Red and blue to be, so the sticking to time line they might introduce two new types next gen but i just don't think it feels right.
User avatar #83 - mutzaki (03/01/2013) [-]
I believe that if so, they might've saved the new type introductions until they had a fresh new canvas of Pokémon to implement them in. Especially the legendaries, as rumors state that Xerneas might be of the supposed Light-type, and Yyveltal to possibly Sound.

And also, the fact that this new game, coming out close after B2/W2, that they might've saved it just to make this newer generation more grand, in fear that they'd lose fans or something.
It's all speculation, of course, but then again, it's fun to speculate :D
User avatar #84 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]
Yeah it is :D
Quick note on that sound type though: Am I the only one who feels that if they did implement that type that it would be the shittiest type ever? Like what would it be super effective against? And how do you design a "Sound" pokemon? I mean exploud, who is the king of sound right now, seems more like a normal type then a sound type.
User avatar #85 - mutzaki (03/01/2013) [-]
I thought about that, and first of all I realized how many moves could be changed to the Sound-type. Anything from Growl, to Heal Bell, to Upproar, Hyper Voice and so forth.

I think that it would be super effective against Steel, because of how metal transfers vibrations. Then again, Electric isn't super effective against Steel...
Things it could be not very effective against are Water, Rock, and hell, since most insects don't have ears (at least not what I'm aware of), maybe even Bug.

And effectiveness between types are often metaphorical in some way (Psychic over Fighting because of mind over muscle, for example), so I think they could cook up something.
User avatar #86 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]
I actually don't think sound might be a new type because there is the ability soundproof. Simply put: most other abilites that give you an immunity to a type usually also raise a stat. I.E. Lighting Rod, Storm Drain, sap sipper, motor drive. I feel like nintendo would've known about the new type atleast half way through the development of Black and white 2 or at least when they were starting sales so to implent an ability which would necessarily knock out an entire type's moves and not give the wielder of the ability a buff. I mean no other ability does that.
User avatar #88 - mutzaki (03/01/2013) [-]
They changed up a number of abilities in B/W, like how Sturdy became useful and really annoying when fighting wild Pokémon. But before B/W, Lightningrod didn't actually give the wielder immunity, and didn't raise its Special Attack. I think they cold easily do the same with Soundproof.

I honestly don't think Sound will become a type, though. It just doesn't hold up, I just don't think it holds up.
User avatar #89 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]
Thats how i feel. And back to the light type, why add it? I mean dark type was added for a reason. Psychic types were far too powerful and dark types served as the perfect counters to psychic types being immune to their stab and dark stab being super effective agianst them. So why introduce a new type? No type's causing too much trouble and the chart is fine the way it is. The obly reason to introduce a new type would be to make an old one better, like potentially grass ( offensively and defensively) or steel (offensively speaking)
User avatar #87 - afromann (03/01/2013) [-]

The newer video shows it using a Fire-type, and due to the several similarities it shares with Victini, I actually think they will be tied somehow, and that it will be a Fire-type.
But, this is all speculation, and we won't know for at least a month, according to serebii.
User avatar #73 - viacotwelve (02/14/2013) [-]
maybe its dragon. fire type is already taken, and dragon types use fire moves a lot. like you said, though, we won't know for a little while
