My only real opposition to it comes from the fact that It's mandatory. I don't like the idea that the government can just tell me that I have to buy something. Tomorrow they'll be telling me what kind of cars I have to buy and where I can live.

is car insurance mandatory in the US?
#65 - wraithguard (06/06/2015) [-]
It is if you're going to drive a vehicle, and even then you only have to be able to cover the people that you may hit. It's also very important to mention that mandatory car insurance is not a federal law. It's put forth by the individual state. It just so happens that New Hampshire is the only state that doesn't require it. People in the U.S. tend not to get mad about mandatory things like this when it's done by the state government, as opposed to the federal government.

The reason that it's mandatory is because that kind of system can only work if everyone is in on it. see #19

If your income is so low, then why didn't you apply for Medicaid? If it's not, then why didn't you buy low cost insurance (which Obamacare sought to eliminate), or pay cash at a place with low prices? I think what is more likely is you didn't know what options you had before Obamacare. Regardless, there were better solutions besides this mess.

I did know my options and I applied for medicaid, I was declined. I looked into other options, they were not affordable. I had the choice, deal with the pain, or go broke. I chose the pain.

So then are you getting it at a reduced price because of your low income status?
User avatar #17 - untamedlazyeye (06/06/2015) [-]
My parents insurance is, I don't have a monthly fee for my insurance. Some procedures are only part covered though.
