Plus I believe this guy just wants a skim of it anyways and come up with his own understanding and I believed that Sparknotes would give him the necessary functions for such an event.

I like sparknotes for videos they have of certain things plus their summary's are enough for me to get by.

But then again like I said before I read the books and plays more or less
User avatar #59 - tylermcall (06/04/2014) [-]
Their video's are awesome, but they only do it for some of the pieces we read, and their summaries aren't bad either, but for my AP class they expect a much more deeper understanding that Sparknotes might not cover because it isn't as deep as the chapter or act-by-act analysis Shmoop provides.
But reading is always the preferred method to get the deeper understanding.

I'm not either, but I've had to research quite a bit about Mao and I've looked at many sources about him. A lot of the ones that exaggerate use false data and manipulate evidence into their calculations, as no one knew what was happening in China. No one is sure exactly how many people died, but to place it at 78 million would be a serious exaggeration. At most it would be between 30-45 million and that would be because of the huge famine. Sorry but I get a tad touchy when people like OP exaggerate data to the point where it's completely wrong.

To be fair, Mao didn't kill 78 million people, it was more like 30 million, and most of the ones that died were dead because of the drought that was occurring at the time; it was one of the biggest droughts in Chinese history...
