Y'know Blackwater, before the CEO left, had a better track-record with smaller overhead and ZERO CASUALTIES as compared to the American military? Wasn't like they were doing easy shit either. VIP transport was a mainstay and one that the American military actually made harder for them by insisting on using the same routes with the same vehicles.
I know it's blasphemous to say it, but they were better, not worse.
You mean the same Blackwater that repeated gunned down civilians, intentionally obstructed investigations into their conduct, and, if I recall correctly, threatened to murder a US state official?
is blackwater gone? i always wondered why they didnt try to get contracts in mexico to deal with cartels seems like they would be a god send and the insane money floating around mexico some cartels have so much cash it ends up being eaten by rats.
They're rebranded. You can still join them under their new name, Academi. Shooterjobs is a good place to scoop a contract. They have pretty high standards though, and strict codes of conduct, including rules of engagement.
And I'm sure they tell their employees to wear helmets when under fire
Those are the Free Burma Rangers and that guy is David Eubank, an Army Special Forces operator, you ignorant slut.
Ah thanks a lot - saw this so often but never had a name to that glorious bastard.
When a white guy in Afghanistan takes off his fuckin helmet, you don't tell him to put it back on because 9/10 times he out ranks you, and has seen shit hit the fan more often then you jerk off.
Only ones who wear helmets are POGs and butter bars.
Are you retarded? Like I'm seriously curious if you actually have mental issues that cause you to lack a fundamental understand of what the fuck you just typed. If you had ever actually been on a legitimate deployment, and I don't mean some stupid shit like going to Oki or Kuwait, you'd know better.
Wore my fucking helmet because I like my head.
Only reason that I got TBI's instead of death. I had the lovely luck of getting fucking hammered constantly in Paktika, Paktia, Khowst provinces, Deh Yak and Andar districts in Ghazni province, and Panjwa’I district in Kandahar, all way worse than our Baghdad deployment was. Cerebrospinal injuries, nerve damage, reconstructive surgery on my left elbow, left wrist and hand, and left knee. Helmets work, fucking wear them if you'd prefer to take a service-connected rating over a grave at your local VA cemetery.
Now this is an actual badass and i dont mean it in the ironic sense, this guy has balls like coconuts
Damn dude did they give you 100% or did they stick you like they stuck me, with only 70%? I was a Blackhawk crewchief by the way.
100 percent what? My aerospace teacher was Marine infantry in Iraq and was shot 4 or 5 times. I know it's out of nowhere, but I got interested and felt like sharing the little bit I have to relate sort of. I actually have a few stories from my teacher and him getting wounded. Wanna hear?
It is like being paid disability if you are no longer able to work. It is supposed to be based off of E-6 pay if you were E-6 and below. It will help out when you are having a hard time finding a job you can do. but that is about it. you can't live on any less than 100% out in the civilian life if you have a family to take care of.
I don't understand, but my teacher said he had 2 ranks or some such. He rambled a lot, like me, but sometimes it got hard to follow, and it sounded like he made it to Lieutenant and and Sergeant. Can you be both? I'd ask him, but he's facing possible time for cocaine possession. Sorry to keep it up, but you're a vet and would probably know, and seem non-busy at the moment.
I am done trucking for the day, so I am just chilling. I was in the army so I don't know much about the ranks in the marines, but it sounds like he was lieutenant then lost his commision. I don't know if it happens like that though. If there are any Devil dogs here they might can answer that better than me. I know in the army it literaly takes congress to demote anyone ranked E-7 and higher. Hope that helps oh here is a link for marine ranks and info on them.
Not a marine, but all branch officers are pretty much the same. All college graduates, all given commission.
Used to work with a Devil Dog before I quit. Asked him about this since I was curious too.
That part of it I understand it is just how his teacher went from commissioned to noncommissioned.
Thanks fella! And thanks for your service too. I know vets like to forget war altogether, but I also know a lot like to reminisce. Let me know if you wanna hear my teacher's stories, and if you want I'll tell you what the 2 ranks thing was when/if I find it out.
I just want to know what is up with the drastic reduction in rank. War stories don't really click with me I have seen the horrors of combat by collecting our honored dead and it was bad enough. But if you are interested I have a couple (non-combat) stories from deployments myself if you want to hear them.
I love UH-60's, btw. Hearing one is like seeing the school bus at the end of a long day. I was a Rakkasan, so air assault was a big deal. Well, that and DUI's, and spousal abuse. Worst goddamn unit ever in garrison, but their reputation gives them special treatment.
I always loved picking you guys up and hated dropping you guys off. I hated it when we would be late because of maintenance issues.
Currently in the long legal battle to get them to recognize a bunch of them, actually. My initial rating, while in a fucking WHEELCHAIR, was only 40%. It's been steadily going up as the lawyers nail them though. The math is also super fucked, they use a table of insanity. 40 and 50 aren't 90, they're 70 something, and so on.
I'm already priority 1 so I get full medical coverage and all that, "special disabled" designation for federal jobs and whatnot, and extra education benefits. I honestly just want the license plate lmao. I don't get why they give you tinnitus or apnea without question, but my spinal injury that requires epidural injections just so I can walk is an "issue", because it wasn't diagnosed until after my discharge and I didn't "go to sick call complaining of back pain" so it's "not in my C-file" and thus need fucking BUDDY STATEMENTS from witnesses to corroborate that I had a back injury.
Even though, you know, I was in a wheelchair until the VA diagnosed what was pinching the nerves and started giving me injections. My right leg STILL goes numb any time I take a shit. I carry a folding cane specifically for if I have to take a shit somewhere other than home and my leg goes offline for a few hours.
Cav Scout here. Don't get why they keep trying to fuck everyone over with shit like this. Like, dude, you got super fucked up, and you only got 40?! Fuck. That.
I've been out for a few years now, never went to the VA hospital cuz I never went to sick call
like a dumbass
. Pretty sure the only thing on my file is from Afghanistan, breathing in plastic fumes from burning trash.
Keep up the good fight against the VA. Dumbest thing the government did was separate DOD from Veteran Affairs.
Also, if you rolled out without a helmet you're just asking for trouble.
Cav scout? I'm surprised you had enough time to stop sucking cock to type your comment
Inb4 civ FJrs thumb this down for not knowing the jokes
Keep fighting brother, I am still fighting to get my knees fixed. Yeah the fucking system for counting up the injuries sucks. I was working on and crewing blackhawks for 10 years. That was what I wanted to do after I got out. Now I can't even climb up and down the aircraft all day with my knees, twisted my right knee 330 deg torn all but 1 tendon out and cracked my kneecap. They would not redeploy me back to the rear to get it fixed so I was at FOB Shank with a lockout brace on for 3 months as I hobbles on the soft ball sized gravel with crutches then later a cane. I also had whats called cholestiatoma in my left ear got surgery to fix it but I am now deaf in that ear due to the surgery. Now I can't even have a cush crewing job. I still have nightmares of picking up the bodies and putting them on the aircraft after the battles when it was safe enough to gather the dead. But I still can only get 70% which is oddly not even 70% of what 100% of the pay would be.
Ignorant slut or not, helmets exist for a reason, and if he's army he got one.
