I might be wrong but I remember playing it with a couple of friends and being level 50 while them being level 10. Not 30 minutes later they were level 50 so I assumed they bought some sort of power up.
#14 - twilightdusk (07/26/2014) [-]
There was probably an EXP-booster type of item, though that seems like a ridiculous pace even with one of those :/ That said though, it just gets them to level 50 more quickly, it's like like they're still level 1, but more powerful than a level 50.

Sorry if I'm being pedantic, I'm just a bit fed up with people calling games pay-to-win and throwing general accusations that there's a glut of pay-to-win MMOs around yet I've never actually seen a game where you can actually pay to instantly be more powerful than someone who's dedicated their time to the game, like was being claimed with comment #5

EXP boosters are a pretty common method in these sorts of free games. You're not paying to be any more powerful than a free player, just to advance through the ranks faster (you still hit the same level cap as everyone else).

I kno, right?.... bronies are so much worse...

If you Venn Diagram the bronies and the m'lady-fedoras, there is an unfortunate overlap, and regardless of the proportion of the bronies that also fall into this group, the number of people that are both is large and loud enough to be noticeable.

How to correctly be a part of a fandom without being autistic (Extension: MLP)

1: Enjoy something
2: Enjoy it with others who also enjoy it
3: Recommend it to people who would enjoy it
4: DONT FUCKING TALK ABOUT IT OUTSIDE OF #2

I've never particularly noticed. Maybe a slight overlap with furries (that's how the NSFW brony board was born) but that's about it.

Savage 2, doesn't have a leveling system but the basic Scout and Shapeshifter become capable of taking on Legionaries and Predators which are basically the respective team's super melee units.
#16 - twilightdusk (07/26/2014) [-]
I'm assuming you're referring to the persistent items listed on this page? savage2.com/en/gp_items.php They don't exactly look like game breaking bonuses (though they are significant) and there are ways listed of obtaining them aside from purchasing them (Though I'm not sure how effective those are).

I also saw a forum post while looking the game up which claimed "Runes are not usable in clan matches so competitive play is not affected by them. You could argue player ladder is affected by it but I doubt many competitive players care about it once they find a clan"

probably those online fighting games like tekken rev and soul calibur online. something like perfect ko cant remember was a korean game. basically all those games where you can buy gear with real money there are a lot. especially shooters and stuff....downvote then ask question noice
#10 - twilightdusk (07/26/2014) [-]
Tekken Revolution - Hard to find solid info on a quick search, but one review I can find says that the only item you can pay real money for are "Gold Coins" which are used to play online matches as long as you can keep winning (as opposed to the free coins you get every half an hour which let you play one online match). Paying for the ability to play longer, but not exactly buying the ability to crush someone who's played the game more than you.

Soul Calibur Online: I'm going to assume you meant "Soulcalibur: Lost Swords." which doesn't even have multiplayer, over concerns that it would result in a pay-to-win situation.

I can't give a specific response to this unnamed korean game, but generally speaking, you can unlock more gear and such by playing the game as well as buying it, by the time you're the equivalent of level 50, you have plenty of good gear yourself to fight against a newbie who bought stuff, and more experience with it to boot.

Elaborate? I remember being able to buy cosmetic equipment in Tera and items to help upgrade your equipment more reliably, but I can't remember any direct power buying.
