I have watched some series through streaming and i have downloaded some series with torrent. The thing i noticed was that the streaming ones had a lot better subtitles. So, is there some reliable sub groups? So i could see that the torrent has reliable subtitles. I've heard that horriblesubs uses crunchyroll subs, does that mean they're good?

I want to be part of torrent master race, but i want to be sure the torrents are well translated.

aina kun etit tuolta, niin lajittele seedereiden mukaan.
Vihreellä merkityt on "trusted uploaders" ja niiden subit on yleensä ihan fine. Välil näkee jotain heikompia "trusted" uploadereita kuten hadena tms, mut pääasiassa vihree on fine.
valkoset on kenen tahansa uploadaamia eikä niistä kannata välittää ollenkaa.
Punaset on kopioita jo olevista torrenteista, esim toinen tiedosto muoto jostain .mkv julkasusta (usein mp4).

Horriblesubs on ihan hyvä. koska ne on otettu suoraan CR:stä, niitten subien editointiin (typesetting) ei oo käytetty yhtään aikaa, joten niissä voi joskus olla jotain pieniä bugeja tms.

Esimerkiksi Horriblesubs, gg, evetaku, UTW, vivid, gotwoot, FFF, ja jopa commie on kaikki ihan luotettavia. Mä en ite oikeestaan keskity siihen mitä sub grouppia mä käytän.

sit on bakabt.me josta yleensä löytyy aina kaikki hyvät torrentit kokonaisiin sarjoihin. sielt löytyy yleensä vähä enemmä erilaisia sub grouppeja ku noi perus mitkä mainitsin tossa yllä mutta kyllä ne on lähes kaikki ollu ihan luotettavia, ainaki tähä mennessä. Bakabt:llä on paha tapa kehottaa 1080p versiota 720p version puolesta, mikä on tietty ihan turhaa koska 720p ja 1080p ei oo mitään eroa, ellei kyseessä oo elokuva jolloin tietysti käytetään 1080p

Torrenting often comes with a absolute s**tton of ads, slows your computer, and the file may contain a virus, I stream constantly since it's safer, besides, I've never encoutered this "shiggy diggy as shiggery diggery as the shiggy diggy that I'm about to shiggy diggy doodely doo" that you speak of.
#32 - alleksi (08/25/2013) [-]
_Torrenting often comes with a absolute s**tton of ads_
In what universe does this happen? where the fuck are you getting your torrents from? the nigerian prince? Use trusted sites like nyaa and bakabt

slows your computer
it shouldn't. maybe if you have a terrible computer that can't even run 720p video. pretty much every cheap modern computer should be able to do that though.

and the file may contain a virus
we aren't living in the fucking 90's anymore. as long as you use trusted uploaders, you wont be getting viruses at all.

I stream constantly since it's safer
it's not safer. it's as safe as (if not less safe than) torrenting. Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it dangerous

I've never encoutered this "shiggy diggy as shiggery diggery as the shiggy diggy that I'm about to shiggy diggy doodely doo" that you speak of.

When I'm referring to slowing down the comp, I mean that in my computer, that is used by everyone with the exception of my sister, has a lot of random files, so with the torrent (which some auto-start) makes my startup_ slow.
And yes the file may contain a virus, there's still viruses being produced and even visiting trusted uploaders there's still a posibility to contain a virus, or since you insist that there aren't you should look up worms, and I do understand quite well the concept of torrenting, since me and my mother did it for years. Oh and with the "shiggy diggy" stuff, just like I've encountered bad torrents, you must've encountered bad streaming.
User avatar
#78 - alleksi (08/26/2013) [-]
never in my years of torrenting have I encountered a virus, never, because I only use torrents from trusted people. your torrent client doesn't have to start on start up, my µtorrent doesn't.

True, I've encountered bad streaming. but I've also encountered good streams. but even the best possible streams aren't as good as some of the more average torrents.

What? No they don't. Where the hell are you getting your torrents?

_slows your computer_
It really doesn't. Just upgrade your toaster.

_and the file may contain a virus_
All you really have to do to avoid this is to know where to look and make sure you're downloading correct file types. There are quite a few torrenting sites that take down illegitimate torrents as quick as possible, such as Nyaa. Also, common sense is good.

_I stream constantly because its safer_
Nope. You still have a high chance of encountering spyware, malware, etc. With torrenting, if you get them from trusted sites and if you use common sense, the chances are slim.

Just because says 720p, doesn't mean it actually is 720. What most streams do is they grab 360p or 480p, instead of an actual 720p rip, and they upscale it. As a result, the image doesn't have the same quality it's supposed

What would you recommend to someone who's living in a country where torrent usage is illegal? Here in Germany you can get fined because of it

I'd love to find a way to avoid streaming and I sadly have no idea
User avatar
#70 - alleksi (08/26/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure it's illegal in every country (torrenting illegal material I mean).

Torrenting itself isn't illegal. watching anime on an illegal website is pretty much as illegal as torrenting, as far as I know.

although I suppose if your ISP is monitoring your downloads/uploads, you could be in trouble. I don't know what the policies are in there
#73 - randomprick (08/26/2013) [-]
I guess here my ISP is monitoring. Some of my friends received a letter with a huge fine because of downloading movies from torrent
User avatar
#74 - alleksi (08/26/2013) [-]
that could easily be because the people in charge of those movies follow the pirating scene more closely. The japanese don't follow the western pirating scene as much (if at all), but they keep a close look on pirating that's happening in Japan
#65 - likeabox (08/26/2013) [-]
Torrenting in general or torrenting illegal stuff?
#71 - randomprick (08/26/2013) [-]

learn how to set up a proxy. or download a simple vpn cilent
#72 - randomprick (08/26/2013) [-]
As far as I know, in order to use a VPN client you need to pay first a good VPN server which allows you to keep connected to it... free VPN servers aren't that reliable. But that's what I learned from searching stuff in internet, I honestly have no idea
User avatar
#75 - facetiousrunner (08/26/2013) [-]
i use one since my school blocks torrents. it gives me 6 hours straight and a pretty decent speed.
#27 - anon (08/25/2013) [-]
i have a shit download speed so id rather just stream it
User avatar
#33 - alleksi (08/25/2013) [-]
how's you download?

my download is around 7mb/s and upload 0.5 mb/s.

the maximum speed that I get out of µtorrent for some reason is, for some reason, 1mb/s. so technically speaking my download is 1mb/s, when we're talking about torrenting. 1mb/s is pretty terrible, but still, downloading one episode only takes about 10 minutes minutes max. and downloading a full series takes only some hours.

b-but I don't want to wait hours to watch an anime, you might say. and that's why you watch other anime, while you're downloading the next. it's simple, silly.
#29 - anon (08/25/2013) [-]
If you have shit speed, streaming isn't a good option with it's buffer period, now is it?

User avatar
#34 - alleksi (08/25/2013) [-]
XDCC is basically file sharing through IRC. I don't use it so I don't know the fine details.
DDL is just direct download link, like using megaupload or something like that

User avatar
#12 - facetiousrunner (08/25/2013) [-]
What at the time it takes to get it? Just fucking set up the torrent when you go to bed, not that damn hard. Unless you are torrenting something over like 26 episodes it takes no time at all really.
User avatar
#13 - alhiniath (08/25/2013) [-]
That or they want to watch it directly. I use RSS myself for current season then i just leave it overnight and in general anime with more then 26 episodes tends not to be good.
User avatar
#14 - facetiousrunner (08/25/2013) [-]
Few and far for longer series. Monster and FMA:B come to mind. I even torrent currently airing shit. It's just a better experience and you can choose the sub groups. Cause most stream sites just rip crunchy rolls subs which are meh at best
User avatar
#15 - alhiniath (08/25/2013) [-]
Well they rip the first subs they find usually i think. Well I haven't seen Monster yet, and not every show is but generic shounen shit over 26 episode is shit because fillers
Can't stand fillers at all hence why many shows over that reach is bad because of just fillers, Shakugan No Shana was on 72 episodes and i love that show over everything else
User avatar
#16 - facetiousrunner (08/25/2013) [-]
monster 74 episodes. watch it. the end. technically the gatari series has broken 26 episodes if you count the separate seasons.
User avatar
#17 - alhiniath (08/25/2013) [-]
Will find a good torrent for it then also i don't really count seperate seasons since they are kinda forced to focus on plot though SAO had "fillers" though the fillres were actually in the books.
