Hey same. Although ever time I bring up this topic most people shoot me down and say it was Marilyn Manson. Out of curiosity, where did you go to school at?

I understand beerios because a bit o grossness is acceptable in the quest to get over hangovers, but anyone putting juice in cereal needs to burn. Filthy heretics

I can see it being kinda ok for some cereals, but still what the shit
#167 - wordtheturd (09/02/2016) [-]
I've met someone who ate cereal like that due to being extremely lactose intolerant. It's gross to us, but I guess if there's no alternative then it might not be that bad
#254 - anon (09/02/2016) [-]
No alternative, you mean like lactose free milk?

Wow. Well whatever you do DONT PLAY 1 ITS ACTUALLY REALLY BAD. THE ANIMATION SUCKS STORY SUCKS COMBAT SUCKS LEVEL DESIGN SUCKS THE UI SUCKS ITS JUST AWFUL. I'm gonna check out the Witcher 3 tho, maybe even the books too
#93 - mookiea (08/27/2016) [-]
Really? I was thinking about buying the other 2 to catch up on the story, but haven't because the graphics and animation looks like garbage. Like could you elaborate on how bad the combat is, what makes it bad? and if you could say something good about it, what would it be. gotta have both sides of the coin to argue if I want to buy it.

And yes, buy witcher 3 with all the dlcs. I have 361 hours, new game +, absolutely one of the best games ever made, the story just flows, man. Don't let 1 and 2 turn you off from this game, yoyu are missing one of the best games ever made. It has it's moments to where you will lose you shit to. You won't expect it. then goofy shit like this guy that invented a cam era type device and you can see. Stupid shit. idk. I'd give yoyu better examples of the awesome stuff this has. But my 6tb hard drive that I put all my video game recordings in and media crashed, took it apart and the laser has scratched the shit out of the disk, so I can't even fix it or ship it off and get the data back. sucks man.

But I do implore you to buy this game, with all dlcs. This game left a lasting impression on me, and did others as well. And at least you will be able to know who is who, like when a character comes over that knows geralt, say triss. I'm like who's this? because i didn't play the other games.

The combat consists of ;
look at weapon enemy is using, is it an axe or a sword
if sword, press c and then press m1 repeatedly
if axe, press x then press m1 repeatedly
The signs are sort of neat, but pointless to use in combat.
Theres no dodging or reaction timing past that you cant press m1 too fast
Different weapons change nothing from what i can tell.
You basically just stand still holding your sword like a fucking goof and stunlock enemies into oblvion.

ALSO NONE OF THE NPC'S BLINK. NONE OF THEM. ITS A TINY DETAIL BUT ONCE YOU NOTICE IT IT GETS REALLY CREEPY.

currently playing witcher 1 enhanced edition and it's really not THAT bad. yes, it's clunky and the combat system kinda sucks, but the world, characters, dialogue and story are pretty good imo.
#110 - gisuar (08/27/2016) [-]
what's offputing is the loading screnes when going back and forth from one npc to the other at least that's my problem with it
User avatar
#123 - hotschurl (08/27/2016) [-]
Well i have it on my SSD so that's not a problemf for me. But there are indeed way too many loading screens so i can imagine that being extremely annoying when they last more than a second
#127 - gisuar (08/27/2016) [-]
i could play almost the whole game on my ram it's just how damn fucking many there are

They're not nearly as good as from Witcher 2 & 3, but I HIGHLY recommend playing Witcher 1 as well. It's an amazing game as well, just gotta get used to different mechanics and the slavic atmosphere is amazing, way better than with Witcher 2 & 3
User avatar
#84 - mopidu (08/27/2016) [-]
im sorry i interfere but actual slav here, what do you mean by "slavic atmosphere"? I mean I played only the first game and I have no idea what do you mean by that.

I..... honestly don't know. It's got something more medival-like to me, and more eastern european. As in, the cities looked more like actual medieval cities. Not that Novigrad from Witcher 3 is not amazing, it's by far the best city in an RPG I've ever seen. But the environment in Witcher 1 was way more humble, made it feel very realistic as well

Check Comment #47 . He describes the same situation

What did you expect from a game made on a shoestring budget by a group of squatting gopniks who didn't want to interfere into the saga's main canon as to not discourage the original readers? You're actually right, and ever since The Witcher 3 came out we simply don't talk about that atrocity.
Of course the sequel was better graphics and story wise, and featured more characters from the books, but it lacked the typical slavic atmosphere the first game had and which got restored in the 3rd one. The Wild Hunt was the tightest shit though. I wish they could remake the previous games with graphics and mechanics like that. I really recommend you to read the saga first though, or at least "The Last Wish" and "Sword of Destiny" because it'll help you make the most of the story. The first 2 books are collections of novels about Geralt's adventures and monster-hunting errands, while the others - except for "Season of Storms" - are about him, Ciri and various political intrigues that you know from the games.

I thought the Witcher 2's gameplay felt really janky. about 9 hours into Witcher 3, and it's still a little janky but I think it's a lot better. I'm having to force myself to unlearn my Dark Souls instincts though...

Sword of Destiny
The Last Wish
Blood of Elves
Time of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
Tower of Swallows
Lady of the Lake

I just finished Tower of Swallows and goddamn if this isn't one of the best book series i've read. Definitely recommend

I'm reading them in the order you listed, currently half way through Blood of Elves. Considering it's a translated book, some of the language in it is beautiful. They're so well written and translated. I would recommend them to anybody interested in the Witcher. I'm personally doing it so that when I play the games again, after I finish the last book, all the characters have much more depth.
