Dude, we Albertans are jealous of you keeping Brad Wall. As bad as the Conservatives had gotten, Prentice would have been better than this... Brian Jean has proved he was the better leader.

You rotate it like you do crop fields. Cut this section this year, the other section the next year, and all the while replant. It's a better alternative to having the whole thing burn every few years, and lose it all plus the money that could be made off it.

It's still a task so huge it's virtually impossible to organize. Honestly, the best way to fix this is to let mother nature carry out the natural cycle of wild firesburning up dead veg on a yearly basis. We as a species try to protect the forests from fires to the point that when the start of a fire becomes uncontrollable, it devastates way more than it naturally would have.

Cut fire breaks around at risk cities and let the annual fires do their thing is the answer.

I still thing some sort of logging program would be beneficial in the long run simply because it could pay its own overhead.

Possibly, but I'm pretty sure that's also currently happening. At least in BC it is.

You do know that you can sell wood for money right, and pay people to work with that money?

The first time yeah, but after all the trees in the buffer are cut down you would have to cut down anything that grows. There isn't much of a market for tiny trees and grass clippings.
