Let me be clear. Im not just some heartless asshole who has no sympathy for rape victims. A good majority of the crime ISNT their fault. It's the Rapist's. I see what you are trying to say: If their isn't a rapist, there is no rape. Unfortunatly, rapists will always exist. We cant change that. However, we can do things to PREVENT the crime from happening (IE, taking responsibility)

A situation very simiar to the 5 dollar story happened to me a few years back. Except it was my car. I parked it on the beach and left the keys on top of the driver side tire while I went surfing. I came back, and lo and behold, my car was gone. Now, I don't need anyone telling me this because I'll be the first to admit: Those were MY keys; That was MY car;It was MY responsibility. I made a poor decision and I paid the price og being a victim of car theft. Could I control the fact that there was a car theif in the area? No. I could have, however, done something smarter than leaving my car keys so accessable.

Bottom line, this was just like any crime. Not completly my fault, but I do hold some responsiblity to getting it stolen by giving the theif an easier opportunity. Just like a rape victim holds SOME responsibility to being raped by making the circmstances for the rapist easier. I believe people are accountable forwhat happens to them, and I hold myself to that atandard as well. You may not think that, but I don't prefer playing the blame game. If someone doesn't want to be raped, they should take measures to prevent it. I am responsible for my own saftey, just like you are responsible for your own saftey and rape victims are responsible for their own safter. To me, throwing your hands in the air and saying "hey, if I get raped or not is up to you, not me" is basically commiting suicide.

Anyway, I know you dont agree with any of this, but that is my last speal I wanted to share. Good day.

You are telling me that, even though I could have made a physical concious effort to prevent being stolen from, I still hold no responsibility whatsoever.
It's called taking care of yourself.

If you lost $5, yeah, that wasn't smart and you are probably responsible for said loss. However, the example you presented was that someone took the $5. Therefore it is their responsibility for taking it. You may have enabled it by being there, your mere presence and situation doesn't cause their action. It's still their action alone. It's like the asshole on my profile telling me to kill myself. I presented him a wall to write on and maybe even a motive to say "go kill yourself", but am I at fault for his hatred? I'd like to think I'm not.

>At school
>leave 5 dollars on my desk
>Get up to use the restroom
>come back, 5 dollars is gone

You would agree that I could have prevented that from happening by looking ahead and taking necessary steps (like putting it in my pocket), right?

That argument you used can apply to anything; You cannot hold responsibility of theft unless you are the thief. That is incorrect. I, a victim, could have help responsibility by simply putting the 5 bucks in my pocket.

You're not responsible for stealing your five dollars, no. You could have been wiser in not losing it, but you're not at fault, nor responsible for taking it.
