Shit, I never implied anybody was, I was just making a reference to the increase in the amount of people who spend their time online and on phones and inside and such as opposed to outside. Jesus Christ, people, calm down. Out of all the things i posted last night, I can't believe this is the one getting thumbed down

Yes, but 9 times out of 10 we are the ones on top. Just because you are the dominant life form doesn't mean you don't get screwed over by others from time to time.

My point is right now Islam is violent as shit, because people are following the instructions to kill and interpreting the other text as more orders to kill. And really the main problem with the religion is the fact it's core values make incompatible with the core values of the west. I'm not a Christian Muslim or a Jew I'm not saying I'm an atheist. the way I see it all the gods exist one way or another. they may or may not have power, they may or may not be alive, but really they all act/acted like pricks. and I heard a question recently that is kinda thought provoking, "what happened to the Muslim left?"

Oh wait you were talking about the West.

Well it hasn't even been a century since the two most deadly wars in the history of mankind have been fought. Both mostly started and fought by Western countries. A century is not a long time and I think it's dangerous and short sighted to say the West's violent times are behind it: Many people believed the same around 1900.

Maybe now. But it's not a pure religious conflict in any way. The war in Syria started because it's people wanted more rights miliar to Western countries. It may manifest itself in religious ways but this conflicts is mostly political in my opinion.

And other religions have had violent times as well. The Thirty Years War (The German wars of Reformation) cost 30% of all Germans their lives. One would be excused to say the world would be better of without Christianity at that time. But saying that just that period of time defines Christianity as a whole is extremly short sighted. I think the same is true of Islam at the moment.

Generally the scripture is brought up because people go on and on about how Islam is a religion of peace. And as the core of the religious beliefs the Quran is brought up to show how even there the religion is still extremely violent.

I wouldn't call Islam a religion of peace in any stretch of the imagination but I wouldn't call it extremly violent either. Islam has had it's prosperous peaceful times and it's violent times like any other religion that's over 1400 years old. Saying the West has been less violent then the Middle-East is just plain wrong.

Then why do they use it as a set of instructions.
User avatar
#100 - toensix (08/30/2016) [-]
There are instructions in it, but not all of it is.

If anything, they don't use it as instructions because it very clearly says not to kill other muslims and not to kill yourself. Both are massive sins, yet they happen all the time.

I think people who are critical of modern Islam are going completely the wrong way about it by criticizing the scripture. People from all religions bend scripture to suit their wims. Forgive thy nieghbor my ass.
