Whoops, I'm not sure how I came to associate it with Innistrad. I'm pretty excited for it too. I just wish they'd put out a few more Slivers this set. Do you know what the backstory is supposed to be for Khans is supposed to be?

Tarkhir is Sarkhan Vol's home plane, where dragons were venerated, and then hunted to extinction by nobles and warriors for prestige. Sarkhan was a member of a group of shamans that saw dragons as the ultimate and purest expression of life. Sarkhan meditated while introspectively searching for the dragon inside himself, and found Jund, and from there, met Nicol Bolas this way. Sarkhan made the mistake of swearing his allegiance to Bolas, and under his command committed heinous acts that drove him mad. While in the Eye of Ugin, he heard the whispers of departed dragons, one of which was Ugin himself, a spirit-dragon that helped seal away the Eldrazi thousands of years ago with Sorin Markov and a hieromancer.
Sorin goes looking for Ugin, because the Eldrazi were released from their prison, and have begun to walk the Blind Eternities again, in search of worlds to devour. Sorin comes across Ugin's bones, and loses his shit (Nicol Bolas killed Ugin many years before the Mending). The plot for the set is that Sorin goes back in time (most likely with Sarkhan) to find Ugin to help with the Eldrazi.

Where would I find the books? I know they exist but finding them have been a pain.
Alara has been my favorite set for a long time because of its backstory

Alara is by FAR my favorite block so far.
You should start looking for the books at the Wizards home page. I think that they have a store, or something.

Sucks that you didn't win the PTQ but it sounds like you're pretty good and will have a good chance next time.

I have no idea what my favourite color is, I started with RDW so it has a special place for me, then I splashed blue/white and it worked well but then I went pure white.
I love the flavor of red, relentless and 'anything to win' but if I had to choose I would have to go for White.
And my favorite type is definitely enchantment. Offensive, defensive, global effects, enchantments are versatile and always fun...which is why 'Back to Nature' annoys the hell outta me.
Planeswalker are epic, it's an instant threat that you have to deal with and they can be a win condition alone or not at all. It does suck when you don't have enough cash to get them yourself but I don't think they ruined magic, if anything they probably just added a new dynamic. I guess people just don't like change.
I pulled of Jace, the living guildpacts ultimate the other day, while he is probably the weakest jace it was pure winning from there.
Whats your favorite creature card?
Archangel of Thune is mine, I love the art, the ability and the flavor.
#31 - titletaker (08/27/2014) [-]
My single favorite creature is definitely Scion of The Ur-Dragon. He was not only my first Legendary, he was my first multicolored card, and my first Dragon. I fell in love with dragons because of that guy, and I still love them.

I'm super keen for Khans, I play white weenie in standard right now but I want to go into the more control side of things when it comes out.
I'm liking the color combo that Abzan has, but spoilers are due from the 1st so we shall see.
I actually had to google Karthus now, I've never even heard of it. I started in the middle of RtR. But I can imagine he must be great in dragon tribal, and we all know that in the second part of khans, dragons are going to come back in a big way.
For modern I play a red/white burn deck, only splashing white for lightning helix and boros charm and a sideboard of chained to the rocks.
Banefire is amazing, guaranteed damage is always good.
User avatar #28 - titletaker (08/27/2014) [-]
I started in the original Ravnice in 2003, during Dissension, so Return was a huge deal for me.

Red/White Burn is the shit, dude. I remember getting wrecked by one in the last round of a PTQ, pulled me out of the running. Love that deck.

What's your favorite color, and card type? My favorite single color is Red, and my favorite card type is Palnesawlker (almost all of my friends say that planeswalkers are overpowered, and ruined a big part of Magic, but I LOVE them)
User avatar #30 - semilunarknight (08/27/2014) [-]

I'm building a commander deck now with Muzzio, visionary architect as my commander. Basically a whole lot of artifact creatures with blue control aspects.
I'm more into standard, it's pretty much what all my extra cash goes to but I enjoy it.
What modern deck do you play and who's your commander?
User avatar #25 - titletaker (08/27/2014) [-]
I have three commanders, working on four more.
Tribal Karthus, Tyrant of Jund (my baby is excited for Khans of Tarkhir)
Nicol Bolas (it's the most vile deck ever conceived)
Mayael the Anima (Eldrazi)
Working on Angel-tribal Jenara, Esper Reanimation, Godo the Bandit-Lord, and a five-color Progenitus deck that revolves around all of the gods printed from Theros.

My Modern deck is Red/Green Tron, but I run a Banefire mainboard. That is single-handedly responsible for half of my victories at GP Richmond.

Wow that's a pretty epic dragon. I can't remember my first legendary. It was nothing amazing. But my first rare was also my first set I managed to collect, also my only creature (because I cant afford goblin guides) in my R/W burn.
My 2nd favorite card.
