well when i read "water is conductive", my asshole sense tingled a little... you didn't go into detail. you just said the branch is conductive because it has water in it.

All right. I'mma settle this right now.
The Superchrged powerlines have live electricity flowing through them, making them hot. The heat set the wood on fire. Fire is just super-heated Hygrogen gas, or plasma. So is Electricity. Fire conducts electricity, which is why this reaction took place at all.

I went through similar classes, yet If I would of answered this instead of you, I wouldn't of called them a retard for not knowing it.

There are things that exist that you know nothing about, that doesn't make you retarded.

Just to let you know, water isn't conductive. you gotta mix it with salt or other impurities to make it conduct electricity.

the breanch was most likely alive to have caused the plasma to erupt as it did

You're all retarded, current will only flow when there is a difference in voltage; because there is no difference in the voltage along one wire, there will be no substantial current running through anything that touches just one of the wires. Touching both of the wire, however, does complete a circuit in which there is a very high voltage, otherwise known as difference potential. Since the currents are running in different directions, the effective voltage difference is roughly twice that of the voltage of one of the cables; the power dissipated along whatever is bridging the two wires is then equal the square of the voltage divided by the resistance of whatever bridges the gap. Because the energy dissipated by the wire itself is so large over large distances, the voltage of just 1 wire must be very great for charge carriers to move a usable distance, just something to take into consideration.

Also, I'm a dog.

dont we convert it to ac before it gets to the power lines? because ac doesn't drop so much with long wires. that's what makes it so good for powering things EVERYWHERE lol. i hate ac power actually. everything i do and make uses dc power but sadly you can't just run it across towns in dc form =[
#31 - Olgiz (05/31/2012) [-]
Generators=DC--->powerline's/plants=AC----->your house=AC---->Your devices (cell phone for example=DC...
User avatar #33 - thetom (05/31/2012) [-]
yea i know those, my point was in the power lines being ac so they didn't have to bump up the voltage so much because its going further distances. that's more of a problem you would have with dc energy.
#116 - Olgiz (05/31/2012) [-]
Naw, when New York used DC power only, the skies were blocked out in some places by the wires.
DC requires larger, and more wires, a generator every few feet, and besides, no ac power=no interwebz
User avatar #119 - thetom (06/01/2012) [-]
That's what im saying..... ac doesn't need all that wire and the voltage can stay lower.....

Doesn't it have to be conductive? Wouldn't it not matter if it was bridging wires and grounded, since wood doesn't conduct electricity?
User avatar #19 - theomegatroll (05/31/2012) [-]
Well, the branch would be conductive because when it was a part of the tree, water was being pasted throughout the system of the tree. Water is conductive, but that is assuming that the branch was still "alive".

I have no intentions of disrespecting your values, but simply put if you title yourself as an hyphenated American then you can't expect others to see you as an American. Don't get me wrong a persons heritage is an important part to each individual but as a people we, you and I, are Americans first and foremost. The fact that our ancestors come from different parts of the world is of cultural importance to each of us, but by titling yourself African-American you imply, intentionally or not, that you do not see yourself as an American but as an African born in America. This is, i believe, the main source of racial tension in this country.

I completely understand the point your trying to make but my counter-point is that the Black-American community demands equal treatment but then demands to be titled as separate from White-Americans. I'm simply stating that if you can't see yourselves as a part of a larger whole then how can you expect ignorant douche bags to see you as part of it?
User avatar #86 - theomegatroll (01/24/2012) [-]
I have no intention of being recognized as a separate part. I'm in favor of integration, and the ending part of the title makes me American as anyone else.I just want my values respected like anyone else.
