I was told as a kid, that they'd sew my ears shut with the little things on their butts.

I of course, being the little shit I was, immediately chased and captured every single one of them I could to see if it was true.

weird, I wonder where that term came from, seeing as dragonflies don't even have stingers.

That also works, though its not really a correct term for this examples.
Reboot in narratology means the restarting of a series storyline that discards all previous continuity.
Judge Dredd was a single movie.
So in this case the term is readapation.
Captain America is a bit harder, because there WAS a movie serial in the 1940ies. So it possibly could be called reboot, if we count that. (movie serials are kinda wonky where they fit this days)
Godzilla on the other hand wasn't a remake, it was a reboot. Because while nineties movie was only one, there was a previous series.

>dont have to worry about rent or money for food

Nigga what. I worked 45 hours a week plus going to school full time as well. Unless you're living on campus (which is a financially poor decision to do unless you're going to school in a different state) you still gotta worry about that stuff. It got so bad that I had to drop out because if I stayed, I was going to bomb because I was only able to get like 5-6 hours of sleep a day max.
#578 - anon (08/20/2015) [-]
Am I right in assuming then that you get no financial support whatosever for studying in the states? Cos I had no particular need to get a job. I couldn't splash cash everywhere. But I lived comfortably and never had an issue getting sleep because of it.
User avatar #581 - paraplegicdinosaur (08/20/2015) [-]
Nope. Nothing. You could get food stamps/EBT and I guess technically welfare because you're unemployed, but that's a whole other process in and of itself.

One of my professors while getting his doctorate survived on 3 potatoes a day. One for lunch and two fur supper. That's all he ate.
User avatar #403 - legitlolz (08/20/2015) [-]
Well, kudos to that crazy motherfucker. But as a full time student working 48 hours a week, and living with 2 roomates, I barely have time or money to do jack shit. It's killing my work ethic and is incredibly hard.

Just because Some Guy i've heard tell of over the internet survived on 1000 potatoes a year, doesn't mean my life is any easier.

so thanks for the anecdote, useless and insignificant though it was, I'll go back to my 5 hours a sleep a night and crushing workload.

Just chilling, listening to music and surfing the web

Talking to a very pretty girl who I am very sure is into me, but I have commitment issues and I like my freedom a lot so I'm not sure if I want to pursue it.

How about you?
User avatar #10 to #9 - ambiguous **User deleted account** (09/30/2013) [-]
Do you like her?

I'm alright. Just enjoying my days off work.
User avatar #11 to #10 - theodordronen (09/30/2013) [-]
I like her sure. She's cool, nice and very attractive (a bit out of my league as well i think)
It's more about me having trouble with any relationship in general.

Where do you work? and where are you from if we're at that stage
User avatar #12 to #11 - ambiguous **User deleted account** (09/30/2013) [-]
Be up front with her. It would be bad to reject her if you like her but also be bad to lead into something that you're comfortable. Perhaps you can find some sort of situation/relationship that you can deal with.

I work with a catering company. Kansas City, USA
User avatar #13 to #12 - theodordronen (09/30/2013) [-]
I'm hoping to find some sort of middle ground. I've just been down this road before and I go into a panic and start to over-analyze stuff.

I always meet some wise sage-like people on the internet. Any issues in your life I can assist you with?
User avatar #14 to #13 - ambiguous **User deleted account** (09/30/2013) [-]
I have similar issues with thinking about things too much. Does this girl live near you or far away?

Not currently. Just trying to make a living and pay bills and stuff.
User avatar #15 to #14 - theodordronen (09/30/2013) [-]
She goes to my university. She's a third year dancer and I'm a second year film student so already I'm thinking about the fact that she'll be done after this year and what happens then.
See I'm already thinking about how we would handle that kind of stuff before we've even been on a date. My brain is trained to think long term, life and death kind of stuff. I analyze everything as to how it affects the trajectory of my life, it's annoying.

How old are you? If you don't mind me asking
User avatar #16 to #15 - ambiguous **User deleted account** (10/01/2013) [-]
Well you'll stay in contact and still go to do stuff together, assuming you go down that path. I think it's more about going with it and seeing where things go rather than thinking about where they might go without trying.

I'm 23.

I know, I know. I'm just saying that when panick mode checks in then that's where my head goes.

Also I study abroad, so makes the whole next year thing a bit trickier
User avatar #19 to #17 - ambiguous **User deleted account** (10/01/2013) [-]
I understand. When I had problems before, no matter what people told me to try and help me, I couldn't help but think about everything that could go wrong.

What country are you studying in?

we're both norwegians, studying in London
