Reading the Bible cover to cover is what made me an atheist.

Not really, Christians take the Bible in historical context, and learn from it's teachings. Which is why using quotes from Leviticus is invalid in arguments, since Christ's teachings>Moses' Law.

Leviticus is in the bible, therefore it is valid?
#197 - verby (06/25/2012) [-]
Yeah but Christians don't follow those laws because they conflict with Jesus' teachings. Basically, Jesus is the Constitution and Moses' Law is a law that conflicts with it. Jesus takes precedent.
#204 - mezuki (06/25/2012) [-]
so what you're saying is Christians only listen to the good parts of the bible
#205 - verby (06/25/2012) [-]
Did you read what I just said? Jesus' Law is above Moses' Law because Jesus is a Deity and Moses is a prophet.
#207 - mezuki (06/25/2012) [-]
yes but both of there teachings are in the bible and the bible is supposed to be the completely true and perfect

I don't recall anyone ever saying that to me. In any case, the Old Testament is regarded more or less as a history book, not a lesson, though lessons can be taken from it. I admire Thomas Jefferson, but I would not own slaves o.O

That sounds very confusing from my standpoint but I understand a little better now.

Don't think it said man, but when you get obsessed at finding a way to do something at age 14 with the belief that the technique holds true power then you find a way. Also Chi Blocking can temporarily stop bending, so how effective will it be if you could get inside someones body with blood bending. Last point, Katara said it was a connection that to the bending that was severed by amon, so he used blood bending to sever it whilst Aang probably used spirit power or whatnot. That is all.
