Well, there is a certain... enjoyment in being skewered, slashed and mutilated. Thanks to the Dark Prince, every sensation is exhilarating. But I suspect that Khârn WILL find some manner of enjoyment in killing me, IF the mongrel actually manages to wound me, and thus I would be donning his flesh for a change.
No offense taken, I just tend to get into my character a tad too much

Well considering how most Berzerkers just fight to give sacrifices to Khorne, they must feel SOME pleasure while doing it. So you might be onto something. Khârn? True, he's the only opponent I deem worthy enough to test my blade, but rest assured, I WILL be the victor.

Going OOC but I thought about the fight between Lucius and Khârn with my firned, and even if we couldn't determine the outcome, we figured it would be the most epic battle in the history of 40K

Calm your freedoms son. Soldiers are a shit was just an exaggeration in the pursuit of humor. The point was that no, Muhrines are not superhuman death machines who feel no fear and pain, they mostly are poor, uneducated teenagers with questionable morals who had no other options but to join the army. Remember, it was Amerilards who invented the term "welfare queens".

What the US has is a metric fuckton of armaments and money (or at least credit). "Drive through France", what you seem to have missed is that by the time the US joined the war, Germany had been fighting for years, on multiple fronts, fighting multiple nations when the US dropped fresh troops, armed with new weapons, constantly supplied with ammo and other supplies from mainland US that was untouched by war, and mostly used insane amounts of artillery before any fighting took place. I'm not that familiar with the Pacific theater so i'll skip it, but "Invincible Japanese Warrior" yeah... Every country praises it's soldiers like that.

Every country has had self-sacrificing soldiers, that's not exclusive to the US.

The Chinese back then were like the Russians during Yeltsin's time, a shit.

Iraq, really? A bunch of sandnigs with 40 year old gear vs. the gajilion bombers, trizilion pieces of artillery, 11 aircraft carriers backed by destroyers, cruisers and myriad other ships, outnumbered 2 to 1 by the 750k US troops backed by another 250k coalition forces, while their numbers were around 600k, most of which were in kuwait. Unless you count the reservists (read untrained people picked up from the street and given barely working AKs, no comms, no support of any kind and probably disorganized as shit) which would even the numbers.

Bigger stick wins most of the time. We remember the times the bigger stick lost because they're so rare, they're worth mentioning.

Just saying, btw, that's not the marines. The Army is where the majority of the "Enlisting because I have no choice" people go (Though every branch will have it's less-than-desirables)

User avatar #50 - themarineelite (02/27/2015) [-]
Well technically you aren't immortal, your essence just possesses whoever kills you if they feel any pleasure from doing it. Might have a problem if you get killed by the Tyranids or Necrons.

Oh. Well in that case it's less 'breeding' except for a few. Most come out of the Vitae Wombs.

For Cadians, the Guard is an aspiration. If not for standardized conscription and the officers saying that some people need to stay behind to make sure the hives still run, I'm sure every able-bodied Cadian would swarm to the recruitment centres.
