I tuned into some of the chili tonight since I've been sitting in my house all day sick.

Heard some good **** . I turned it off after I listened to you guys ramble for about 20 minutes cause I didn't know where the **** you were going lol.
User avatar #3730 to #3708 - themagicwizard (04/10/2015) [-]
Alright, I listened to one song from it probably but that hardly counts, since I don't really remember it other than that it was nice. I'll check it out.

How'd you like Compact Substance? Or did you not listen to it yet, you traitorous swine?
User avatar #3731 to #3730 - ultrablue (04/10/2015) [-]
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I actually haven't listened to it yet haahahaha.

I'm such a cunt hahaha. And I'm laughing really hard about this whole thing now.

I'll get to it at the end of the week, just waiting for my Mountain Goats CD to arrive in the mail first, hopefully tomorrow if Amazon hasn't lied to me. I've added so much **** in the last week or two so I'm trying to keep it chill so I don't get more overwhelmed. But by the end of the week it will have been listened to. Trust, fam.

HAHAHA I haven't looked at it in awhile. It's some classic **** .

13 minutes is valuable time. If it makes you feel better I just listened to Cherepashkin for the first time in a couple months. Still good synthy **** thur.
User avatar #3738 to #3737 - themagicwizard (04/10/2015) [-]
It really is, I hope he comes out with more stuff. I have a couple other Cherepashkin things if you want them in a couple months. One of them is over 20 minutes!

Lol, when was that? What were we talking about? The show was so **** for the first hour or 2. We hung around for like 5 hours tonight.
User avatar #3710 to #3709 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
It was when you started off talking about yoga pants lol. I wish you were on skype cause I would've asked you to play this haslo360.bandcamp.com/track/yoga-pants

Though not sure if the censors would have allowed it.

I forgot a lot of what you were talking about. I do remember hearing you rag on Interstellar some more though.
User avatar #3711 to #3710 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
Oh god, that was so stupid. I hate when those guys do that.

Interstellar got some pretty decent airtime tonight. I think we were ragging on it right in the beginning, then we just kept bringing it up as part of some strange, abstract fiction we were weaving throughout the show.

I dunno if we could have played that, but I wish we could. It would have been perfect.
User avatar #3712 to #3711 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
Yeah. The first thing I heard was Portishead; I think you'll appreciate this, right before the beat drop I logged into skype, and that log in sound, that WOOOOOOP, timed perfectly with the beat drop. It was all, WOOOOOOP BAH ch ch BAH. BAH ch ch BAH. Sexy.

I also remember TNP, some cool electronic jams I didn't recognize, and of course some of the customary terrible rock/metal.
User avatar #3713 to #3712 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
Right after Portishead was We Share Our Mother's Health by The Knife, some J Dilla and Nachtmusik by Seams. I think shibe would be proud of me tonight, I played a song by Republika, one of the post punk slav bands he likes. Actually, maybe he'll hate me because there's a slight chance they'd get some exposure from that and not make music just for him anymore. They might be disbanded now though, so it could be safe.
User avatar #3714 to #3713 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
Ahh yes I remember J Dilla.

lol, or maybe that post punk band disbanded right after you played them. Now that would be some top notch comedy.
User avatar #3715 to #3714 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
Or the genre just ends. RIP post-punk: 1970whatever - April 8th, 2015.

I wasn't really on my computer that much until later anyway. This other guy Tom was running the show tonight to get credit for this doofy radio workshop class that he somehow managed to get a bad grade in. Many laughs have been had at his expense.
User avatar #3718 to #3717 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
Haha what a loser

Well, at least I heard some of it anyway. Haven't been present for one in many weeks.
User avatar #3719 to #3718 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
I think my favorite part was the end of the show tonight where we played a bunch of dark ambient/experimental stuff and declared our beef with another show that's on Mondays called Late Night Noise. Hopefully the guy who does that gets the message and starts some **** with us.
User avatar #3720 to #3719 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
Hhaha well when you play dark ambient, no one will want to mess with you cause that ****** too spoopy. Unless of course the noise part of their name implies that they usually play noise music, in which case this should be a battle for the ages.
User avatar #3721 to #3720 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
The guy who does that show called in on ours once to tell us he liked what we were doing. I remember we were playing some spoopy ambient stuff at the time. I've never listened to his show, I've always just assumed it was stuff like that. I'll have to check it out next Monday. Know thy enemy and all that.
User avatar #3722 to #3721 - ultrablue (04/09/2015) [-]
You should call in and make some anonymous threats. Stuff like, "Hey, if you don't play exactly what I say, a bag of squirrels will be released in the studio. You have been warned."
User avatar #3723 to #3722 - themagicwizard (04/09/2015) [-]
Nah, I want to be very direct. We clearly laid out an open challenge tonight, and I'll keep talking **** until something happens. Somebody's gotta shake things up around here.

Yeah, I haven't listened to the full album, but we played one song from it on the radio last night and it was super feely. All sung in his whispery, emotional, sad Sufjan voice. Tear jerking stuff, man.

Sounds good. I still need to listen to that Sabled Sun album too.
User avatar #3688 to #3687 - ultrablue (03/03/2015) [-]
Yes, I definitely feel the same vibe going on. I should get that album soon before winter ends and all this snow melts so I can take it on a wintry drive.

And yes, Sabled Sun is a new go to spooky music friend. Though it's not all that spooky, just more kind of unsettling when you think about the album in context with its concept.
User avatar #3689 to #3688 - themagicwizard (03/03/2015) [-]
Thomas Köner and Sleep Research Facility are two other wintry ambient artists. They're waaay more ambient, though. No geetars or samples, just cold ass Arctic ambience.

Tru, fam. Tru.

Listening to these cold winteresque things is one of the only redeeming qualities about winter. So sick of this cold ass ******** season. Ready for spring and summer. Mostly summer though.
User avatar #3693 to #3692 - themagicwizard (03/03/2015) [-]
Spring is objectively the worst season. It's still cold and wet and ****** , and half the people you come into contact with are miserably sick. I'll take winter over spring any day.
User avatar #3694 to #3693 - ultrablue (03/03/2015) [-]
Ugh no no no nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Wrong you are. Worst thing about the spring is the pollen. And I'll take a little bit cool and chilly over ******* below freezing ice ass ******** cold frigid winds myself.

Then again, you are farther up north, maybe your springs do suck. heh.

It would be fun if I still had friends that had a desire to go sledding or something. I'm just friends with a bunch of lazy lame-o's. SO all I have to look forward to is shoveling my car out and then risking my life on the roads as I deliver my dang pizzas.

You're catching me in my "official sick of winter" mode. Be warned.
User avatar #3701 to #3700 - themagicwizard (03/03/2015) [-]
All my friends are lame-os too. I'm trying to convince them to come skiing next time. I like to imagine that there's a slight chance of success in that.

Well, probably less than a month of this mess left. You don't have to wait too long. Your pizzas will be safe soon.

On that note, goodnight, ultratight. Spread some of that salty attitude on the roads next time and you should be alright.

User avatar #3633 to #3632 - ultrablue (02/07/2015) [-]
Absolutely. You gonna check out Better Call Saul? Obviously it probably can't REALLY live up to Breaking Bad, but I'm still pretty intrigued to at least watch the first few episodes that come out to see if it's good.

That's some minimalist beat driven ambient **** dude. Something about that inner art and the fact that we were just talking about it makes me think this could have fit in some cool Breaking Bad scenes.

All that scummy green, no doubt.

Yeah, I'll check it out. I'm expecting good things, It looks like it'll probably have a lighter tone than Breaking Bad. It could be cool, we'll see. I don't think I even started watching Breaking Bad until it was in its 3rd season or something.

I actually didn't start watching until the very last part of season 5 came on lol. So I had to rush through it all so I could finish it so people/the internet wouldn't spoil it for me.

In music related news, I went to this concert on Wednesday that was at this synagogue. Apparently they have musicians, comedians and other guest speakers come there all the time. So, yeah, I sat in a pew the whole time and it was all peaceful and **** . The stage looked awesome though.

Damn, this and that Scriabin symphony are 2 of the best things I've heard in a while. Sometimes I'll zone in and out during an hour long album, but these 2 pieces have just held my attention the whole time.
User avatar #3600 to #3599 - ultrablue (01/27/2015) [-]
Definitely awesome. I haven't listened to as many symphonies as I should have.

The last time I remembered hearing extended music in this vein was back last year when I went to London; the last night some of us went to a concert (this actually, just found the link in my email from last year www.stmartin-in-the-fields.org/belmont/faure-requiem ). It was pretty cool; obviously not a whole single symphony though. This would be much cooler to witness live. My friend has seen this tour (I think) that goes around playing the music to the LotR movies, I THINK synced up with parts from the movies. That's definitely been on my list to see for awhile now if it ever comes around again.

Yeah, I think it's like a live scored viewing of the films. They did it in NYC recently, or maybe they haven't done it yet. It's a 2 day thing and you can get tickets to any one of the films or all 3. I really want to see that too.

It's in April in NYC. I guess it would have to be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because all the other dates are sold out. Even then, the only seats left are way up on the 4th balcony in the extra cheap seats which are still $70. The venue looks awesome, though. I might still be interested.

Also, good news! Another pentagram was created today, the biggest one yet! Probably 35-40ft across, at least. I live on a lake that's frozen and covered in a few inches of snow right now, so 2 friends and I went out and made a big ol' pentagram pointing at somebody's house. It's way too big to get a good picture of from the ground, but the houses up on the hill opposite the one in this picture should have a great view.

User avatar #3565 to #3564 - ultrablue (01/26/2015) [-]
Haha, IT IS GOOD FOR ME, MR. POORY POOR!

It's apparently the second part of a trilogy that started with Have Landed, so yeah, I guess it's all part of this time travel thing. It's not as diverse as Have Landed, but it does kinda sound more sci-fi-ish, but definitely darker and more kind of foreboding. It's definitely sweet, I've only listened to it twice so far, but first impressions are good.
User avatar #3566 to #3565 - themagicwizard (01/26/2015) [-]
Damn man, that hurts...

Sounds awesome. So there are at least 2 album trilogies going on, Woob and Geotic. I'm behind on both of them. But they're both so good! I'm just awful.

Aphex Twin came out with a new EP, I dunno if you saw that or listened to it. It's great, though.

I don't need your damn handouts, OBAMA!

This one's pretty short, under 30 minutes. Assuming the title is truthful, it's a bunch of acoustic instruments being controlled by computers... the title is Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 EP.
User avatar #3569 to #3568 - ultrablue (01/26/2015) [-]
Nah, I can't be Obama, if I were I'd be a lizard man person thing.

Just previewed some of it. Sounds really interesting, I may actually have to dl this. Something about the concept reminds me of OPN. It's like if AP did an OPN album or somethin.
User avatar #3570 to #3569 - themagicwizard (01/26/2015) [-]
I dunno, I've only heard synth and sample stuff from OPN. Aphex has been around for a long time and this definitely seems like something he'd do.

I listened to Returnal by OPN last night, sitting in the dark. The first track is like a noisy hurricane of sound with what sounds like MC Ride yelling from another dimension. Then immediately after that it turns into serene, calming synth stuff. I really enjoyed it, you might too if you haven't heard it.
User avatar #3571 to #3570 - ultrablue (01/26/2015) [-]
I mean like.. the way it's sampled I guess is what I mean. Like, taking weird/out of the ordinary things/samples and then constructing them together to make something in their style. That's kind of what I meant if that makes sense.

That one is actual next on my list to get from him. Currently I only have R Plus Seven and Replica. From what I've heard of Returnal, your description sounds on point. That one sounds so like loud at times but then also very pretty as well in different parts, like you said. Definitely gonna check it fully soon.
User avatar #3572 to #3571 - themagicwizard (01/26/2015) [-]
I dunno if it was even sampled, I think it's just instrumental recordings. Like instruments with stuff stuck in them to make them sound weird.

My descriptions are always on point.
User avatar #3573 to #3572 - ultrablue (01/26/2015) [-]
I dunno, something about it reminded me of OPN. I dunno what but something. It's a mystery I guess...

Still, I don't think it's really my cup of tea

Maybe someday I'll mature and be cool enough to listen to it though
User avatar #3541 to #3540 - themagicwizard (01/17/2015) [-]
Maybe someday...

I'm usually not into noise at all. Something about that one really gets me though. I think it's because it's not straight up loud, harsh sounds smashing into your ears the whole time. You can totally hear layers in it, and a lot of the sounds are just really cool. That and the organ and synth stuff, which is always good.

I've been listening to a bunch of stuff by this composer Alexander Scriabin today, and I'm learning some short piano pieces by him. He was a really weird guy towards the end of his life. He was in the middle of putting together this multimedia project that was supposed to bring an end to the world at this ceremony in the Himalayas, then he died. Such a shame.

This symphony is widely accepted as being the **** .
User avatar #3542 to #3541 - ultrablue (01/17/2015) [-]
I mean, checking that EP out again, and I think I thought this the first time you showed it to me, the 2nd track I find a lot more pleasurable than the first. At least the first half of the first song. Too much chaos.. the 2nd song is chaotic but sounds a lot more purposeful to my ears, where as the 1st sounds more random. I don't mind a burst of noise here or there (the 2nd song on the Cheese Stank EP has that) but usually I can only take so much.

That's a pretty hideously hilarious amazing concept lol. I like this you linked me. You could probably do a great silent animated film to this. It's pretty dynamic in that way.
User avatar #3543 to #3542 - themagicwizard (01/17/2015) [-]
He called the whole event "Mysterium". It was supposed to last 7 days and every human, plant and animal was supposed to be in attendance. The part of music for the beginning of it that he had partially composed was picked up by another guy in the 1990s who kind of brought it together and filled in spots so it would be playable. It ended up being about 3 hours long. It sounds ominous and mysterious as **** . It probably would have been a pretty wild occasion if it ever happened.

User avatar #3544 to #3543 - ultrablue (01/17/2015) [-]
This is pretty awesome. I need to find the time to listen to the whole thing. Perhaps I should just listen to it while delivering pizzas. It would still probably take me 2-3 days even then lol.

Scriabin sounds like a real bro. A true fellow visionary of insanity!
User avatar #3545 to #3544 - themagicwizard (01/17/2015) [-]
Apparently he was way into mysticism and used his synesthesia with sounds and colors to make his own tonal system which he kept developing over the course of his life.

He was one of those guys that people were either in awe of or disgusted by. His situation was like the opposite of an undiscovered artist who becomes famous after death. He was extremely famous during his lifetime, then after he died, the Soviets took over and didn't like his music so they basically banned it and he was forgotten for a long time.

You should definitely do it. Draw mystical symbols on the pizza boxes too.

I don't know when I'll listen to it in full. It's like 3 symphonies in a row. I know I'll marathon it at some point, though.
User avatar #3546 to #3545 - ultrablue (01/17/2015) [-]

I guess so, but the approach to it seems really different to me. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly has a different range of moods it's going for and never runs with one idea for that long even if it comes back in a bunch of different tracks. I do see what you mean though. That's an interesting comparison I hadn't thought of.

The track 'Il Forte" definitely gives me that exact same vibe, gotta be the trumpet.

I'm trying to get all these pops out of the recording. This is a Goodwill quality record so it has some crap on it. I might finish that tonight or it might be tomorrow.

DOWNER INCOMING READ NO FURTHER IF YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN YOUR GOOD MOOD

Man, I don't feel good about anything right now. I visited my grandpa today, probably for one of the last times. I love this guy so much and he's just been wasting away over the last few months from cancer.

END SADNESS: NORMAL POST RESUMING

For some reason I haven't imported that album into itunes yet. Just got the zip file sitting in my downloads folder for however long it's been since you showed it to me. I love it though. I listened to the whole album when you posted it the first time. So dreamy. It's just been sitting in my ever-growing cloud of bandcamps you've sent me that I dig.
User avatar #3382 to #3381 - ultrablue (10/27/2014) [-]
Well **** , son. I'm sorry to hear that. If you ever need to talk I'm here of course

But yeah, I've been playing that album tons since its release. I think it's ever so slowly inching its way into my favorite albums of the year.

Anyway, gotta go or something. But I'll be back at some other time.
User avatar #3383 to #3382 - themagicwizard (10/27/2014) [-]
I don't think I really need to, I don't know what there is to say anyway. I just feel terrible.

Later, breh. See you whenever you're done with your unspecified doings.

I have a few albums that I really love that came out this year, and I hardly ever have any idea when artists I like are going to release something new. One of them might release something between now and January 1st that blows me away. We'll see.

It looks like Muslimgauze's ghost has settled down a little this year, he's only released 2 new albums in 2014 so far, as opposed to 5 last year. I listened to the album Cobra Head Soup by him again today. It was really good, part of one of the songs really heavily reminded me of Burial, which I though was really cool.

If you download something of his, make sure to turn the volume down because everything by him is mixed extremely loud.

I love his stuff. You're sure I've never told you about him? He's a British dude that was way into Palestinian freedom and made an album basically every week until he died in 1999. He recorded so much stuff that multiple albums of his are still being released every year.

Thanks, bb. I need AAAAAAAALLLL the tracks. Made will just have to settle for being 3rd to last.

After 9/11, I remember in my elementary school, they made us sing that song every morning. For some reason it has some sort of special place in my heart now, even though it's on some patriotic steroids, which I'm not down with. But the cheesiness adds something to it that still makes it kind of good. lol.

How are you? Are you squid free on this fine evening?
User avatar #3344 to #3343 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa squid free. I was just rereading that conversation the other day. lel. Best emcee in the game, Franchize. Woooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

I'm great though, totally squid free. Haven't eaten dinner yet so I'm trying to come up with something to eat cause there isn't much in my house that I want atm. How's you?
User avatar #3345 to #3344 - themagicwizard (10/21/2014) [-]
Pretty good, squid free for sure. That Schubert Impromptu is coming along. I was checking out some of the pile of records I got last weekend earlier today, I dun gud.

And Turkey is finally allowing the Kurdish Peshmerga to cross its borders to fight ISIS in Syria. What a great day!
User avatar #3346 to #3345 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
Pile of records? Do tell.

I'm glad that your adoptive people of Turkey are doing well then, friend. Good music, and good people!
User avatar #3347 to #3346 - themagicwizard (10/21/2014) [-]
Seems like they've been acting like pretty big assholes recently, but what do I know?

I went to a big book sale last weekend and they had a ton of records too. For records, I got some cool classical/romantic stuff, and some goofy polka/Polish Christmas records and stuff like that. My friend got one by this psychic reader guy talking about horoscopes, which was fantastic.
User avatar #3348 to #3347 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
Psychic reader guy? That sounds ripe for samples.

Also, Polish polkas? You listening to the music of my people now?
User avatar #3349 to #3348 - themagicwizard (10/21/2014) [-]
Lol, we already used it, he's sampled in the 2 songs on my soundcloud page with the squid picture as the cover.

Now? Polka has always been a given.
User avatar #3350 to #3349 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
Heh well if you say so.

Actually I don't give a **** about polka. It's tre boring.
User avatar #3351 to #3350 - themagicwizard (10/21/2014) [-]
You have to let it into your soul... let the polka grow inside you and then gnaw its way out through your chest leaving behind a gaping hole filled with perogies.
User avatar #3352 to #3351 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
But I can get perogies and kielbasa and galumpkis while still listening to Boards of Canada. It's a great combination, you should try it!

I think I'll just go listen to some Irish folk music and eat boiled potatoes and cabbage until I die from a ruptured stomach.

User avatar #3356 to #3355 - ultrablue (10/21/2014) [-]
Mmmm Limalo. Well know you got me all happy again..

Also, I read that as you were gonna eat Lucky Charms in a sugar cone at first. Now I'm thinking of that interesting combination and am thinking I might like to try it.

Hey um, do you have the bonus tracks on A Sufi and a Killer? Every version I tried downloading awhile ago just had 19 tracks, but according to itunes there are 21 tracks. And I want all of them if I'm gonna listen to that alboom.
User avatar #3362 to #3361 - themagicwizard (10/21/2014) [-]
What the **** , I keep finding new tracks that are apparently on that album. I have 20.

We definitely had some controversial moments. I unintentionally insulted black people and Brazilians, then hinted at support for Al Qaeda.

But we did have some other good stuff. We read from a UFO reports book, Chariots of the Gods by Erich von Däniken (Ancient Aliens guy) and Dante's inferno all at the same time over 2 NASA space recordings CDs playing simultaneously. Also another Death Grips song with the swears replaced by quacks, among other things.
User avatar #3324 to #3323 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
LOL sounds like a grand old time. That eastern music is really having an effect on you eh? Next thing I know you're gonna be telling me you're joining ISIS. heh.

Speaking of UFOs (well maybe not, I dunno) woob.bandcamp.com/album/have-landed

Check that. My latest bandcamp purchase. You may like. I thought it was mostly ambient when I got it, but it uses a lot of orchestration as well. Also, his newest album is called Ambient Disaster Movie. AHEM. AMBIENT. DISASTER. MOVIE. How is that not the greatest? I'm gonna peep that next when I get some more mula.
User avatar #3325 to #3324 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
Lolol, the Al Queda thing happened because I was portraying that hipster stereotype of liking something after it's gone out of style, like everyone's moved onto ISIS and Al Qaeda is now an obscure and retro terrorist group.

I see now that I was probably the only one on Earth that got that joke...

We also posted some new songs on soundcloud in the last few days, which we played a few of.

This is so cool, god damn. I love the cover too. Thanks m808B Scorpion MBT.
User avatar #3326 to #3325 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
HAHA m808B Scorpion MBT. That's a new one. I'll have to use it all times always now.

Also, I get your joke. It's a funn ee joke. We also might just be terrible people though. Oh well.

I'll have to check the new jams then. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKnG06-oYcg

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah you so clever.

Also, WHAT THE **** IS THIS, AM I... AM I LOOKING AT... POPULAR AMBIENT MUSIC RIGHT NOW? THIS **** HAS 1.5 MILLION VIEWS, DAWG. Oh never mind, some singing came in. I get it now.

Anyway goodnight.
User avatar #3329 to #3328 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
I just remembered seeing the band name listed in the soundtrack credits from a snowboarding video a while ago.

AND TO THINK YOU THOUGHT I ACTUALLY LISTEN REGULARLY TO SOMETHING WITH OVER 15 VIEWS, HAH!!!!!!

Brian Eno is popular ambient music, it exists www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKw5mbcE7VY
User avatar #3330 to #3329 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
Yeah, dude. It hurts me to listen to things with so many youtube views and likes and comments. It's like I'm just part of all the sheeple. Thinking about deleting all the Bonobo and Boards of Canada and all the other stuff that's on youtube with millions of views just so I can go full purist, y'know?

Eno I've heard of. But there's singing too. I guess that's what makes it cross the threshold.
User avatar #3331 to #3330 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
Lol, you should get rid of Bibio too. Lover's Carvings has over 1,000,000 views. Anyone on Warp, really. That label's too big for artists signed to it to be safe from fame and success.
User avatar #3332 to #3331 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
Haha truth. ******* Lover's Carvings. I heard that song was used for a commercial for google glass, just adding to the number of hipsters that are probably loving the guitar noodling. WHY DOES THAT SONG HAVE TO BE SO UNIVERSALLY MAGNIFICENT?
User avatar #3333 to #3332 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
Bibio is so ******* pop, dude. I don't even want to talk about him anymore. God...

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I almost bought a Kafka book last weekend. It was in super ****** condition though.
User avatar #3312 to #3311 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
I read and wrote a 11 page paper on the Metamorphosis last year.

That's the only thing I've read by him though heeeeeeeeeeeh
User avatar #3313 to #3312 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
OH SO YOU THINK YOU'RE SOME KIND OF EXPERT NOW, EH???

That's cool. I haven't read anything by him. What's the scoop on that one?
User avatar #3314 to #3313 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
It's probably his most famous story. Basically it's about a guy who turns into a bug and then tries to cope with his family's reactions to his new state.

When I type the synopsis out like that it sounds like it could be a brand new CBS sitcom or something lol.
User avatar #3315 to #3314 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
I've read about him a little bit, it sounds like so much is lost in the translation from German.

Now I'm imagining the movie The Fly, and Jeff Goldblum as a giant fly sitting awkwardly with his family at Thanksgiving.
User avatar #3316 to #3315 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
Almost, except more depressing. They mostly just keep him locked in a room all the time.

I may check out some more Kafka in the future. It was probably the best thing that I read in that class. Most of it was boring and meh and with no sparknotes for the majority of them because most of them were all obscure eastern writers.
User avatar #3317 to #3316 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
He definitely sounds like a kind of writer I could be into.

You should've bought that up to your professor. "Hey, I noticed that there aren't sparknotes entries for any of these authors. Obviously nobody cares about them, so why do they even matter to us? Let's read Harry Potter instead."
User avatar #3318 to #3317 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
HAHA I wish. She was Iranian though. She was like salivating when we read some Iranian writers. I think she might have gotten offended if I had suggested a dirty Brit like Harry Potter in place of her homies.
User avatar #3319 to #3318 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
ah, you should've thrown the word "towelheads" in there somewhere then
User avatar #3320 to #3319 - ultrablue (10/17/2014) [-]
Nah, I'll save that for when I'm insulting your obscure music tastes sometime in the future.
User avatar #3321 to #3320 - themagicwizard (10/17/2014) [-]
Alright, sweet. You can call in and that'll be your code word so I know it's you and I can be rude.

Hahaha got it. Did you have a show last night? If so, how did it go? Did you play some more algebra clips?
