Now, let me set the sage for the day I watched it:
I had been fighting to be able to see my daughter (who was about 4 at the time)
My wife had just been diagnosed with cancer.
I was just starting college.

Dropped college (an landed in a heap of financial debt) to take care of her and yes, she's fine now. Cancer came back after the first round of chemo, but she just finished a second round and things are looking hopeful. I'm as prepared for the worst as I can be, but that's something I doubt I'll ever be actually ready for in case of worst case scenario. I still haven't been able to be there for my daughter. My ex is being a royal bitch about that. The movie just hit REALLY close to home and put me in an immobile pool of tears for a good few hours.
Thanks for the concern though. It's nice to know there's still decent caring people out there.

I know and understood the whole reasoning behind it and it made perfect sense... but still you can't just repair the damage you've done lol even though it was a happy ending my heart was beyond repair

It's the only show I've yet to see where the eyes were too much.

Ive watched both and can whole-heartedly say that Clannad is much sadder. Ano Hana's story and development is over the course of 11 episodes, while Clannad has 47 episodes over 2 seasons (2nd season being the double decker slapper sadfest). Ano Hana is still great, however in degree of sadness Clannad takes the cake. If you watch Ano Hana after Clannad and enjoy it I would recommend watching Angel Beats.

Yea, Angel Beats was made by the same studio that did Clannad. So its now on my watch list.
