That's an opinion. You should really score anime on how good they factually are, and not how good they are to you.

>>how good they factually are, and not how good they are to you.

Seriously? Do you score shows based on some official charts and scales or cinematography manuals?
Based on what else, than your personal experience with said product, are you supposed to score something you watch as a consumer?

Maybe factually wasn't the right word, but you should use your knowledge in what a good anime looks like (eg amount of filler, stock characters, animation budget) to compare and contrast and then produce a score based around that.

That's not to say opinion doesn't have to be included in that, of course. I could rate moe a 1 because I hate it, and someone might recommend any romance anime I've watched a 1 and I've given a 10 because they hate it and I like it.

My point was: you shouldn't judge solely on opinion. That's a little shallow. Everything has its ups and downs.

Likeability is strong factor and in my opinion the most important if it comes to any form of entertainment. If bunch of people like something it's most possibly very good and that's what I want to know if I use a site like myanimelist or anidb.
Common consumer don't have the knowledge or motivation to score a show objectively. Tha's what the reviews are for.

I guess rating as well as the approach to rating itself varries from one viever to another.

Yeah, that's what I mean: I never once didn't include 'should'.

You 'should' rate things on a critique-style level, but that doesn't mean everyone will.

I'm not gonna recommend anything because our taste in anime is (probably) completely different and I don't want to recommend anything you don't like

also I have no knowledge on anything Thriller / Shounen because I refuse to watch any, but I don't rate or judge them (the same concept as not watching moe anime)

it just doesn't appeal to me

try someone else

It's kind of a shame really, because that would have been an awesome ending for it.
