the reason i thought they were a mistake is because valve took such a laid back approach and tried to set up a system of community enforcement while taking a 75% cut away from the community.

i know it is better then nothing but mod authors got a much larger income revenue on nexus mods (popular mod website) through donations.

many people were butt hurt because they think mods should be free, i don't necessarily agree with that but most of the paid mods were stolen from the nexus or the steam workshop. valves policy of not doing anything did not step in...

if you start giving the options to sell mods you invite a lot of legal problems into the mix because of copyright laws.

there are a few other points that are slipping my mind right now but why valve decided to take 75% for doing nothing i don't know

Valve didn't take 75% tho? Bethesda took 45% and Valve 30%. No difference to the modder there. Valve's the one who provides the platform complete with various payment methods, servers and the 24h refund system while Bethesda... Well, Bethesda has some interesting opinions with which I mostly disargee.

Basicly they seem to consider their cut more like an IP license fee, thinking of the mods as products brought up by the original game than extensions to the original product.

Honestly, I can see this paid workshop thing working but not without some sort of approval progress, which could very well include negotiations of who gets which share.

yes valve took 75% and distributed it.

either way i see the person doing the most work getting the smallest share

jeses bro calm down...
either way you need to stay on your toes because they said they would bring it back once they are done tweaking it.
i feel like i was the one telling people that he would fix it and nobody believing it before...

i never really had a problem with them doing the thing they did since i've never looked into modding community so i have no idea why people got so pissed from it.
PS : i was never mad rly.
