And tell me what the difference is between a dancer wanting better music and a gamer wanting better games?

Gamers don't act like they're forced to play terrible games.
Gaming is fun. Dancing is fun.
Playing bad video games is not fun. Dancing to bad songs is not fun.
There's always a simple, two-sided choice at play here.

But why is it okay to lash out at game developers but not complain about the content of music?
User avatar #135 - grimsho (03/29/2015) [-]
Lashing out at game developers is always (or at least mostly, from what I've observed) caused by misconduct and poor actions on their parts, not a simple dislike for the product.
People lash out at Destiny devs for charging money for "DLC" of content already on the disk; ie paying to gain access to content you already bought.
People lash out at Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero for being a 4 hour game(at most), priced at $60; a gameplay demo being sold at the price of a full title.
People lash out at Depression Quest because it has no actual elements of gameplay and its sole developer, Zoe Quinn, has been the subject of fucktons of controversy and corruption.
People laugh at Hatred for being a childishly edgy and dark, brooding game, but those same people fight for its right to remain on the Steam marketplace without any intention to buy it; bad games have a right to exist on the marketplace as well.

Believe me I think today's pop music - both the industry and the artists - is more toxic than it has ever been and is only continuing on a downward slope, but thats why I don't listen to it and spend a lot of time in the car changing radio stations.
As for the feminist in the content, it seems like an issue she should try to spearhead at her local club or whatever, perhaps by requesting more songs that she approves of from the DJ.

I'll just reply to your >>#130 comment as well; long story short I don't see it as plausible either, which is really the root of the problem.

But who says that what the companies are doing (I don't want to single out developers, because they may not have a choice. I'm not sure how the development process goes) is misconduct?
We do, because we do not agree with their business practices. I do not see a meaningful difference between calling destiny DLC deals misconduct and calling overt sexualization and degradation of women in music misconduct.
As for spearheading this movement at her local area, I want to say that you bring up some pretty valid points, although I might say she'd be hard pressed to think of a catchy dance song that doesn't fall victim to the issues she mentions.

Also, I want to say it looks like we mostly agree, but differ on a few fine points. I also want to thank you for having this discussion with me, because this kind of debate was what I was really hoping for.

2) She want's better music? Then she should go to a different club that has better music/or just dance to better music
3) The gaming analogy is a legitimate consumer rights issue while the music analogy is a whiney gender rights 'issue'.
4) Again, her logic (and sign) is narcissistic and selfish for wanting a mass consumer market to change their preferences just because her fee-fees got all hurty over a genre of music.

Is that enough for you?

I'm going to refer you to earlier, where I told you that dancing is fun. The thing she is saying is that she doesn't like that when she has fun, she needs to listen to music that degrades her, just like you may not want to play a freemium game, but some game developer took your favorite IP and added lazy monetization to it. You really like the game, but you can't really play it without being prompted to buy potions, and that annoys you.

There once was a fish who could talk.
He wanted to learn how to walk.
He got out from the sea,
Fell right onto me,
And I nearly died on my cock

If Payday 2, Dark Souls, and various indie games are any indication, there is always a niche market for your game idea.

*Sigh* I miss her so much.

Don't worry dude, you'll get through it. I'm not sure what's happened, but you'll get through it, and you'll be stronger for it. You just need to hang in there.
User avatar #57 to #56 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
It's a bit of a long story if you're up for it.
User avatar #58 to #57 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
I'm up for it,
User avatar #59 to #58 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
Well, to start it off, I'm in love with my best friend that I've known since we were both 6.
User avatar #60 to #59 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
So she's like the first girl you've ever loved then, and what I gather from a few comments down is that she is dating someone else. Correct?
User avatar #61 to #60 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
She's not the first girl I've ever loved, but it grew to the point where she's the love of my life. And yeah she's dating someone else and sees me as a brother figure.
User avatar #62 to #61 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
It's happened to a lot of us. The girl we're in love with goes out with someone else, and claims to see the guy as a brother. Might I ask how you plan to fix this?
User avatar #63 to #62 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
I'm not entirely sure. I've described what I've done to another few friends and they've told me that I've done everything masterfully and is aghast at why we aren't together. Like her parent's both like me and like having me around, trusting each other with very intimate secrets that no one else knows and so many other things I can list off.

And even just recently, I visited her last month and I may have impressed her by walking from my place to her's which is an hour walk and I did it though the hot summer sun while carrying a heavy bag.

So I'm just kinda stumped at what to do.
User avatar #64 to #63 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
How often do you see her?
User avatar #65 to #64 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
Not as often as I'd like She goes to another city and college. I don't have a licence or car. :/
User avatar #66 to #65 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
Well if you really don't see her often, then my normal advice won't work. Have you ever considered getting a different girl to be your girlfriend? You might end up making the girl you like jealous. If that happens you might have a chance with her. Also, what is her boyfriend like?
User avatar #67 to #66 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
I've had other girlfriends(single now) and tbh, I'm not sure if they made her jealous, but she got together with her now-ex a little after I got my gf (who was one of her high school friends) and she dumped him a little after me and my now-ex broke up, but she immediately got together with her current boyfriend. I don't have a gf at the moment, but i have a friend with benefits, so that's the next best thing.

I don't see her as often as i like'd to have in the past 2 or 3 years, but i still keep in touch with her regulalrly through FB and texting. Oh and what's your regular advice? I'm a bit curious.
User avatar #68 to #67 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
My regular advice is for guys who see the girl they like frequently. It typically works that the guy starts blowing off the girl a bit. Showing that she is not his top priority. This doesn't always work though, seeing as situations differ from person to person.
User avatar #69 to #68 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
Ah yeah that advice usually works, and I already kinda don't make her my top priority, but with our rare visits blowing her off wouldn't work and just make her pissed at me.

But I've shown her that while growing up together over the years that I'm loyal to her. I even did stupid **** so that people would make fun of me instead of her, because she was always the shy, bookworm in elementary school.

The only thing I can think of doing is get in good with her current friends and roommates when I visit her at her place in the city, and scope out her bf and see what I'm competing with. And the next time she's single I'd make a move on her, and show her why my friend with benifits keeps coming back for more. ;)
User avatar #70 to #69 - linktheherooftime (09/20/2013) [-]
Maybe set up a double day with her and her current boyfriend as well. This will give you the chance to get to know him without someone being the third wheel.
User avatar #71 to #70 - taintedangel (09/20/2013) [-]
it might work, but I'm just not entirely sure on anything these days regarding me and her's future.

A couple of my friends that know how I feel about her tell me that it'll happen and me and her will get together. I mean, she's the only one for me and completes me.

User avatar #48 to #47 - taintedangel (08/13/2013) [-]
Thanks, I'm always coming up with ideas for the industry, like a unified gamer social network (my friend came up with this one though ).

It would ask you to make an account with the system and then ask you for your PSN ID, XBL Gamertag, Nintendo Network ID, Steam account, Origin account (ew), and let you comunicate with your friends across all platforms.
User avatar #49 to #48 - sparkyoneonetwo (08/13/2013) [-]
that woudl be really really cool.

Not only that, (sorry if spam),
But as soon as someone denies a protest to them, they get to say that they aren't letting them practice their rights as a "mericun"
Speaking as an american, and the son of a lawyer, and grandson of a lawyer, this is one of the most tightly wound and deep conspiracy known to date (to me).
User avatar #11 to #10 - taintedangel (04/24/2013) [-]
(it's ok to talk on my profile, unless an anon fag spouting spam)

I honestly hate loopholes like that, being able to disguise hate speech as a protest if they don't get violent.
User avatar #12 to #11 - someponynew (04/24/2013) [-]
(nerd mode activate)
Not only that, it just goes to show how our "Proud, flawless system of Gov't" can be snipped by a bunch of southerners.
SOUTHERNERS.

Not implying some aren't smart, but I'm sure that those people with 11 kids had some "Crossing over" in the family tree.
#13 to #12 - taintedangel (04/24/2013) [-]
IKR? There needs to be a better system for identifying whether it's hate speech or a legitimate protest.

Time for your Constitution to get a 28th amendment.

MFW Canadian, btw.

Come to Canada, we got lots of fun!
Pros:
>We get free healthcare (not as great as France or Great Britain, but we're in 6th over-all).
>We get free education until college/uni.
>Tied for 4th in freedom (US is in 10th)
>We don't care if you're a foreigner (unless your're from Quebec, they hate everyone)
>We don't care if people speak other languages besides our national languages (English and French)
>We banned the WBC from entering Canada
>You get criminally charged for hate speech, yet get freedom of speech as long as it isn't hate speech.

Cons:
>Our current Prime Minister is a major dick bag though. :/
>We gave the world Justin Beiber, Nickelback and Avril Lavegne. :/
