Maybe, but my point is, the guy who wrote it probably heard it from someone else too.

Just treat it like a repost. Sure, maybe it's not original, but who cares?

As if Tesco Mobile invented the joke. That one was in my great-great-great-great grandmother's magical book of burns.

right he said it word for word and it was recently on the front page If I had the superpower to always know the truth I would wager money that he was influenced by that post when he wrote this.

On most sites where usernames are the norm people are able to develop a sort of reputation or hierarchy around their accounts. On FJ some of the big posters get treated better because of their reputation, and on some forums accounts with more posts are, for whatever reason, seen as superior. On 4chan, since anonymity is the norm, people are more likely to express their true opinions because it can't be traced back to a that person and they therefore won't build up a reputation, so their posts will be judged the same as anyone else's. However, If someone uses a trip, then it means that they're a special snowflake piece of filth that wants to be treated differently than anyone else. However, not all trips are bad. In some threads, where the identity of a poster is crucial to the posts that they make, posting under a trip is acceptable.

Essentially, it goes against the purpose of an anonymous board.

Yea, this. There are a few exceptions, like /fit/'s SIR
(He does the new years comics every year, and is pretty solid for advice)

Yeah, there are usually 1 or 2 cool trips on most boards, like /v/'s REDS

I see and I take it there is a negative connotation associated with having a name on the 4 chans, at least more negative than the avg nameless 4chongers?
