It's not like gun crime didn't spike after the gun ban in the UK,

Look it up. Bad people with guns use their guns more if they won't get shot.
User avatar #56 - bronybox (08/03/2015) [-]
Right, but the guns were still in circulation at the time.
It's not like they're going to all get confiscated/disappear in a matter of months.
#57 - Sewallman (08/03/2015) [-]
It's not like we don't have people running guns from mexico or something to petty street thugs and shit. As I've stated before, you can make a fire arm that is exactly as effective out of two properly sized pipes. You can even use pvc pipes to do it, but you only get one shot that way.. But that's all you need to prevent a person from raping you, shooting you or another.

Anti gun people baffle me with their anti gun logic.

"Anti gun people baffle me with their anti gun logic."
Oh why does anyone bother to discuss anymore.

Non tl;dr
You can take your time searching them up if you want, but the countries at the bottom of that list for the lowest # of homicides all have very strict gun laws and cultures that don't condone gun use.

The only exception I see is Switzerland, but Switzerland have a culture of responsibility and safety that is anchored in society and passed from generation to generation. They also have much more cultural unity, meaning that as a nation, they are generally in agreement. They ACTUALLY love their neighbor, they actually feel ASSOCIATED with the people within their own country, whereas in America, there are so many different social and cultural groups that it all becomes disjointed, and people feel no sense of camaraderie with other Americans. America, in fact, seems to very often have a level of hatred for other Americans that aren't like their particular brand of American.

See:
Republicans hating liberals and vice versa
You automatically thinking I'm somehow dumber because I think guns should be regulated.

tl;dr
Countries with strict gun control laws have the lowest homicide rates.
The main exception is Switzerland, but the Swiss have a sense of national unity, unlike the American clusterfuck.

By the way, how many people do you think even know how to McGyvere a gun. Why do you think it's normal to say that as though it's common knowledge?
User avatar #356 - slayhumanity (08/04/2015) [-]
>comparing 3rd world drug-cartel shitholes to 1st world countries
Oh boy..

>swiss have sense of national unity, unline the american
Tell this to any southern.

>how many people do you think even know how to McGyvere a gun
>what is the internet
>being this naive
Hell, you can even study guns on steam World Of Guns
User avatar #361 - bronybox (08/04/2015) [-]
There's literally only three 3rd World Drug Cartel countries that I see on there.
Chile, Mexico, and Brazil.

Why is America up there WITH the 3rd world shitholes? That would be a great question. Because as of right now, you can pretty much own a gun anywhere in the united states.

If you hadn't guessed, the South isn't the entire United States, that's the point. I'm perhaps saying that EXACTLY to Southerners, who are often especially disjointed from Americans who aren't Southerners.

Look, I fucking assure you, the amount of people that get killed or even bother making some bullshit makeshift gun is so obscurely marginal it's not even worth considering in a serious discussion about gun laws.
User avatar #379 - slayhumanity (08/04/2015) [-]
>Chile, Mexico, and Brazil.
Which is the core of this pathetic comparison.

>Because as of right now, you can pretty much own a gun anywhere in the united states.
Which has literally nothing to do with the problem. Compare crime and gun statistics for states with and without gun control and you'll se the opposite. Criminals are the problem, not guns.

>the South isn't the entire United States
But the south is the most nationalistic and patriotic part of the US, which is the point.

The US don't have a gun problem. They have a criminal, or rather black problem. Statistics don't lie.
User avatar #228 - deviousmachine (08/03/2015) [-]
You are comparing gun violence in different countries and assuming the only factor is gun laws.
#75 - Sewallman (08/03/2015) [-]
uh huh. We already know that homicide rates are higher where poverty is increased and drug use is high.

While since the gun ban in the UK, they've had more fire arm injuries and the same amount of deaths. Maybe it pays to show people how to use their fire arms instead of getting them from some shady van
User avatar #159 - fatminion (08/03/2015) [-]
you're comparing a country with a population comparable to NYC + Boston + Kansas: football-crazed drunkards and farm people. And "handgun-related injuries" doesn't mean "firearm-related homicide". And the UK has had a small murder rate forever - not just before the ban. I'm not sure exactly what the injury level is supposed to show.

Have a look at my research comparing all of Europe to the US. That way, we compare denser, more affluent areas like UK, Germany, with places with lower GDP and more poverty: www.miketheburns.com/wiki-stats/us-vs-europe/

You just have to realize you will face minimal inconveniences: having to register your gun and you can't stockpile weapons or ammo without raising flags and maybe get investigated (like the Patriot Act shit and the gov't checking your phone history and investigating you if they see too many suspicious words on facebook or you purchase odd combinations of cleaning supplies used to make bombs). That is how the rest of the world deals with violence. Guns are inherently violent and should be a PRIVILEGE to own and operate. MOst people are fine, so you'll have no problems. Buthaving a manditory registry basically means from one day to the next we could all but eliminate illegal firearms and get guns out of the hands of thugs.

But you know what? You're a swell guy and I'm pretty sure we can't change each other's minds, and I'm happy in Europe and you're happy in the US so we'll just leave it at that. I mean, the murder rate is only 5 times hither than that in the EU anyway, so it's not that bad as long as you don't live in the shitty areas.

Peace.
User avatar #31 - stijnybe (08/03/2015) [-]
I realise that, but i mean if guns would have never been legal to be carried by a citizen, a lot less bad people would be in posession of guns. In countries that have always had very strict gun laws you rarely see a wrongdoer carrying a gun because they're a lot harder to get by.
