It's actually pretty normal to have mash with most of our meals. However, if it's a Sunday roast dinner, expect at least 3 different types of prepared potato.

On a related note, enjoy this article from last year about different potato preparation methods:

Can't beat a nice portion of spuds man. They go nice with so many things. *shrug* I love potatoes I guess.

I like potatoes cooked any way to be honest. Which goes back to my previous comment in that regard: You can have them with a lot of different meals. It's one of the most versatile and delicious vegetables, imo.

As long as you put the hours in you should make it as a watchsmith.

First thing of, it's theoretically easy, since you just need the case, movement (machine) and the straps. Movement and straps are easy to obtain, you can buy a shitload of movements with good price at some company (I'd recommend standard Quartz first) and some companies/people offer premium custom straps for cheap price (Or you can make it yourself, it just requires good materials (leather, fabric, canvas, etc) and basic sewing knowledge (Or pressing machine), if you want it made from rubber, than you'd probably just buy it from somewhere since making a custom rubber straps will cost a lot since you need some molds. . For the case, you need to model it first, then make it. You can use 3D print technology, or use molding stuff (like in factory), or handcrafted it (Some dudes crafter their own watches from wood materials, like Woodka watches, etc) . Just a note that 3D printed products will have a weaker density, and not recommended for electrical stuff yet. Also, you probably need to think about whether you're going to use luminescent (glow in the dark) materials (for hands or dials) , since good lume materials is kinda radioactive, expensive and rare like Tritium. This is why premium watches glow brighter than standard watches which uses Phosphor.

Go to watchuseek.com . It's an all-in-one watches forum and many people there made their own watches by these methods. Some dudes even manage to carve his watch case out from solid steel with a machine (Idk what machine is that, but it's a big company's machine and I'm sure it cost expensive) to make it have the same quality as premium watches.

I'm pretty interested with watchmaking and I'm already made some watch bracelet for use with iPod nano 6. And I would love to make something like << these beautiful Ziiro watches or Uniform Wares watches in the future.

Also you need to have a legit water resist test, obtain some ISO, to make your watches stand out it the market. Also, marketing and stuff.

And don't drop your degree just yet, you don't know shit about watches, so it's safer to stay in your major and get a related job for some time while make watch-making as your hobby. When you are ready and have money, go run that shit.

It would be a bad idea to rely solely rely on strangers on the internet, but it feels like in this day and age watchmaking would be automated. Also, are watches complicated enough to pursue as an actual career? How the hell will you make money making watches? I've also heard that watches have been made somewhat redundant with all the other ways of looking at the time. Although I've heard somewhere that watches are being used as symbols of wealth, and that can get you places. But seriously, making WATCHES? Fuck, that seems like a terrible idea; not that I would know. Hope you research this idea extensively and know what you want for sure (this is your future man). I suggest you just keep the watchmaking as a hobby bro.
#43 - Dwarf (03/31/2014) [-]
**Dwarf rolled image** Anyone that tells you to follow your dream is an idiot. There's no sense in that response. Finish getting your degree and then try to become a watchmaker. Since you're not even positive about anything of the watchmaking field, you may not like it as much as you thought you did, or it may just not work out. At least you'll have something to fall back on if it doesn't work.
#38 - followtheworms (03/31/2014) [-]
Fellow geology major here, do what you think you'll be happy with, but geology is still a solid way to go if your watchmaking idea doesn't work out.

follow your dreams, stickyjam.

As a child I was told by my father, hownottodie, to study the ways of the sword to defend my people, but instead i chose the path of Sourcery, I brought great honour to my family.

Now i defend this realm of FJ because I chose to.

but really, think about your options. don't go with the guaranteed job if it means putting aside your own happiness.
