Mmm, kinda. It's more realistic and less about a one man army killing a shitload of zombies.

That makes sense. And well, Biomega's excuse is that they survivors are Artificial "Super Humans". As in GMO Super Soldiers.

#334 - What's EDEN about? Looks well-drawn. It's not like Black Lagoon is it?  [+] (4 replies) 11/07/2016 on Miyazaki-Sensei, no! +3

Hmm, where do I start? (it covers a lot of ground). It's not at all like Black Lagoon.

It's set in the realistic future, with a virus wiping out 30% of the population. There isn't any zombies, but it did set up for a world government takeover by a hostile faction.
-This is the backstory within the first volume.

Second volume onward the story follows Elijah, the son of Ennoah , the resistance's leader as Elijah is on the run from the world government since they recently tried to kidnap him and the rest of his family.

It's one of those stories that really does cover a lot of ground and hits DEEP on that ground, so I have a hard time describing it. It ranges quite broadly from army-mercenary, to political, to gangster, to street level life, to the entirety of the planet's fate (in more ways than one).

It really is quite it's own thing. I can only recommend it with my highest praise and let you decide what to think of it.

If I was to sum it up in one sentence I think the wikipedia is an ok version:
"Eden is about his coming-of-age as a man and trying to survive both bodily and morally in world that is too complex for mere "black and white."

Eh I like Eden for manga but I understand the younger audiences like Shonen and stuf.f

It's an issue with every genre if you have real "outsiders", and not just "i don't like X" people.

Anime is seen as for children/perverts because of the sales. The real issue has NOTHING to do with western audiences, but of Japan.

Because Japan doesn't give two shits for American/Western viewers, they make their anime for Japanese audiences and put western audiences for "international" much like we do for hollywood.

Really social perceptions of anime are never going to change outside of popularity. Which is going to end up just like comics. Yeah, it's accepted but you don't see many people actually talking about comics or getting people into comics.
(WH40K fandom too).
