Well, every Irishman I know is a drunkard, I'm not legal drinking age yet so I'm not a raging drunk yet, so I'm not sure about me.

i'm pretty sure most people in that part of the world are drunkards.
either that or the stereotype has been perpetuated so much that it's become self-fulfilling.

But... Gravity is always applying a force to that system. It doesn't rely on wheels or anything that would actually remove energy from the system.
User avatar #141 - sovereignsunkown (01/10/2013) [-]
it has to have some amount of friction in the system, which causes energy to be lost due to conversion to heat.
User avatar #143 - Zarke (01/10/2013) [-]
If you slide a book across a desk, friction stops it. If you actively push the book, you overcome friction by applying a force. Gravity is constantly applying a force greater than the force of friction, else the device wouldn't have worked in the first place.
User avatar #153 - Zarke (01/10/2013) [-]
Spending a minute poring over the info in that article, but I'll point out that the conservation of energy (which you were talking about, though your link isn't) refers to a closed system. That isn't a closed system, as a force is always being applied to the system.

It'd also help if I had some tubing on hand to do some experimenting...
#166 - Womens Study Major (01/10/2013) [-]
Sorry for the intrusion in guys, I just wanted to word a thought. This is how i see it: conservation of energy also applies to gravity, given the fact that for something to fall because of the gravitational forces it must first be raised to that height. The same is happening in the flask. In the flask the force of gravity is applied to both parts, the liquid in the container and that in the tube. because the force per unit area (pressure) applied through the tube is only the weight of the column of liquid directly above the opening, the system will eventually stop moving as the water in the tube will weight as much as that of said column (the loss of energy is due to turbulence in the tube). The water is moving to begin with is only due to the fact that the act of pouring the liquid has given it an initial kinetic energy to begin the motion (this is also why all of the other systems need an initial push). Cheers.
User avatar #156 - Zarke (01/10/2013) [-]
Wait, hold on... Remembered hearing something about siphons only working if the end of the tube is lower than the body being drawn from... Gah. I need to do some testing.

User avatar #34 - muchasmarcos (01/07/2013) [-]
Loki was adapted from Lugu wich is Odins celtic equvalent hence the bloodbrother theme
(they originated from the same indo-europeic god). Loki became a sworn brother to Odin in norse mithology so he was actually Thors uncle of sorts. Tho he enjoyed making Thor dress up as a chick and other pranks.

My brother asked if he could have the Wii for his kids, I said it was fine cause I never play it anyway.

User avatar #79 - sovereignsunkown (01/07/2013) [-]
i do enjoy dem natural orders.
quite honestly, progenitus isn't the main focus of the deck, so it's kinda pointless to have more than 2 natural orders (which are usually used to pull vorinclexes anyways).

Pretty much everyone uses Emrakul over Progenitus. Despite having a higher CMC, he's way easier to get out because it's colorless. Plus, he's better in almost every way when he does get out.
#109 - smylle (01/07/2013) [-]
Emrakul also dies easier as it can be killed by creatures like royal assassin or anything else large enough, or just locked down by something as simple as a tumble magnet or a gideon's lawkeeper.
User avatar #71 - sovereignsunkown (01/07/2013) [-]
i run a hydra deck, so, he fits a little better.
plus, who actually pays progenitus's mana cost? i always just used deathrenders or quicksilver amulets to get him out. stick a deathrender on a reasonably large protean, fling it, and then WHAM, progenitus, plus between 5-15 direct damage. mostly i use that combo in multi-person games, and also, i tend to run a couple quicksilver amulets, because in a deck with multiple vorinclexes/other mana doublers, 4 mana is no problem at all.

my band has literally been screwed over in every possible way, because we refuse to conform to their bullshit. needless to say, i have a very healthy hatred of scenies.
