ever heard of "saved by the bell"
no?
okay, I'll tell you.

you know England, right? that island just off the coast of Europe. has a queen, been more or less in the news last year with the birth of prince George, they drive on the left side of the road, etc.

so back in what historians called "the day", which was somewhere after the whole "let's bury people six feet under because anything closer to the surface might show bodyparts and stuff. and that's gross. and it attracts nasty animals and will spread nasty diseases. and let's put them dead folk in wooden coffins too, because it's a bit more hygienic or something. it definitely looks better.".
TL;DR: people were buried 6 feet under and in wooden coffins. it was that kinda time.

England is kinda small, so eventually they ran out of space to bury people. they dug up a few graves and found scratches on the lids of some of the coffins. 2 out of 10 coffins had been scratched on the inside. some of the fingernails of the people in those coffins had been damaged. so people realized they had been burying people alive.

next time people were buried, they would have a small thread around their wrists. this thread led to the surface, where there was a small bell just above the grave. if anyone woke up from his/her slumber six feet under, they would immediately panic and start scratching the lid, trying to get out.

around that time, there was always a gravekeeper around. and if the dude heard a bell going off, he knew he had to grab his digging gear (+20 to undead/resurrected/respawned creatures) and start digging the grave to save a person.

and that's how "saved by the bell" worked.

User avatar #38 to #37 - somekornchick ONLINE (12/11/2014) [-]
i like the beat, and the flow of it is nice, but im not so fond of the lyrics, or the music video. the lyrics seem too cliche, and simple.

The longest I've ever done is a 200.
I swam for my Highschool swim team but I still like to do a little practice to stay sharp.

we do KM swims in my swim club. We have 3, 5, 7, and 10 KM swims, and then a 5 hour swim to do as many laps as we can, and all are non stop

i've only done my 5KM swim so far, soo yeah. less than you, i think...

Man im out of shape
User avatar #27 to #26 - aerosol (12/05/2014) [-]
That's actually really good. The mile is the longest I've ever seen anyone else swim.

So do people just sit there and count laps for 5 hours or is that not how it works?
User avatar #28 to #27 - somekornchick ONLINE (12/05/2014) [-]
our coaches sit in chairs at the end of the lane and count them for us. then we get a certificate, trophy, and a t-shirt, cus we're special little snowflakes.
User avatar #29 to #28 - aerosol (12/05/2014) [-]
Idk I think I'd have earned a ******* trophy for going 5 hours non-stop.

Ever do any relay races?
User avatar #30 to #29 - somekornchick ONLINE (12/05/2014) [-]
sometimes. we have a set schedule for every week.
I do them at the annual school swimming carnival, but i dont really like it, since i dont trust other people so much.

do you have an IM time?
#31 to #30 - aerosol (12/05/2014) [-]
If I do I can't remember. I wasn't much of a distance swimmer though so it's probably not great.

I loved relays because I got along really well with the people I was paired up with. We had one every meet and there were only a few guys on our team so we were together for pretty much the whole season. It does suck when you end up being the slowest person though.

Everyone just looks at you like

lol, yeah they do.

During the summer I would do a swim program that was run by another school. They were a public school and were top notch at sports in general. They even had one of the nicest pools in our district. I felt like a complete casual, but in the winter I went back to my schools filthy Catholic school peasant team.

My freshman year, our team hoodies said "When global warming floods the earth only the swimmers will survive".
