If your dog's reaction to someone pointing at them is to snarl then bite the person there's a fucking problem, regardless if the dog felt provoked.

This dog was very food aggressive, to the point that to feed it the family would essentially dump food outside then close themselves inside the house as the dog growled and snarled while eating. This was a violent, problem dog. Cesar here had not yet fully realized the extent of the problem here, and since he had gotten the dog to lay down and give submissive body language, that he was making headway in understanding the dog.

If you watch the motion Cesar did, he was essentially doing what every person does when petting a dog, reaching towards the snout with an open hand. If that dog interprets that action as a trigger to violently attack, then that dog is not only dangerous, it would be put down in most cases. How would the average person know if they went to that house that trying to pet the dog could get you attacked? How would a child know?

If a person attacked a dog and the dog bit back to defend itself, that's justifiable. The same goes the other way around; if an aggressive dog attacks you or a child or whoever, you are justified in defending that person, and to do so you're going to have to get physical.
User avatar #207 - skubasteve (08/25/2015) [-]
Not questioning there is a problem. But when you know the dog is agressive and you know you are challenging it in such a manner that in itself is provoking an agressive dog.

Here is the thing though, as a professional you know in this situation that

A. The dog is agressive and will probably bite you.
B. You don't put yourself in that situation where you can get bit with out some form of restraint to continue with the training (ie a muzzle..)
C. It is cesars fault that the dog got kicked because any professional in animals would not put themselves in such a situation.

I would disagree, my dog has been brutalised by bulls, cows and horses without heavy injuries. The fuck type of dog you have, some type of rat or inbred swine?

I'd still kick the everliving fuck out of a dog if it bit me unprovoked.
User avatar #98 - skubasteve (08/24/2015) [-]
As would I. But this was provoked. This wasn't a he was across the yard and the dog came after him.

This is him invading the dogs space, and in the dogs understanding threatening him (which he should of hell known, and if not should get the hell away from this profession)

I am not saying you should use your dog as a punching bag. If your dog misbehaves seriously, you should hit it with flat hand, which is virtually harmless, and if it attacks someone, you should do whatever the fuck makes it stop, and not consider what might happen to the dog.

Physical discipline and defending yourself against an attacking animal are two different subjects. You should never hit a dog with a clenched fist to discipline it.
User avatar #97 - skubasteve (08/24/2015) [-]
; if your dog acts like this, you better fucking beat it until it stops.

. I'm just trying to provide people with the information that if you intend on hitting an animal, be prepared for consequences you weren't intending. I'm rather tired of putting down pets that have been injured like this.

User avatar #189 - loonquawl (08/24/2015) [-]
Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed off if the dude giving my dog a fucking shot had to kick it because he doesn't know how to restrain the animal properly... You went to school for years for that shit, you better get it right.
Training a dog that already has problems with it is a completely different issue.
#181 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
You're either a tech or a vet who deals with these animals in ONE situation, so you get in and get out as quickly as possible so as to minimize their stress and send them on their way. Ceasar is trying to actually correct the dog's behavior permanently. You know how to deal with it temporarily, but you don't do anything to fix the problem for good.
User avatar #209 - skubasteve (08/25/2015) [-]
You can achieve the same results with one simple item. A muzzle. Dogs are trained with muzzles all the fucking time.
#178 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
i have no clue why this is getting thumbed down so hard
#206 - anon (08/25/2015) [-]
Cuz he sounds like an arrogant twat who thinks he knows everything about correcting the behavior of an aggressive dog when he's really only speaking of restraining it for a very short time.
User avatar #168 - stillnotbob (08/24/2015) [-]
I feel like that's more of a liability sort of thing for the business. We're talking about if you got bitten on the street without fucking needles.
User avatar #210 - skubasteve (08/25/2015) [-]
And I am talking about a professional dealing with agressive animals as there career. They are putting themselves in that situation. He is allowing this to happen when it could of been prevented while still providing the same amount of training with simple easy and effective tools like a muzzle.
User avatar #158 - coolioshades (08/24/2015) [-]
Im not a dog expert but I'm going to try to raise a point in this.

I think Caesar is rehabilitating the dog so it's a different story. If he was just a vet poking the dog with needles sure he can appease the dog and let it calm down.

But in this scenario he can't do that. He needs to teach the dog that those actions are wrong and no better way to do it than giving him a tap. It's not like the kick was going to break ribs. It was a little tap to tell the dog this isn't right.

The perspective you're talking from isn't really the same. You aren't trying to change the dogs behaviour. Youre trying to handle them as they are.
User avatar #142 - mrthezho (08/24/2015) [-]
Somehow I doubt that though. Ceasar definitely knows how to read dogs body language and how to handle them. If you were to actually watch the episdoe and not just a 5 second gif you would see that the thing that set the dog of here was that the camera that we see through moved in closer when the dog was in a position that it felt threatened, and so it took that out on Ceasar.
User avatar #211 - skubasteve (08/25/2015) [-]
I don't doubt he knows how to read body language. Still doesn't get over the fact he should of been training with a muzzle on, even though he knows this dogs history.

I know you're stupid and writing a comment telling you why you're stupid isn't going to help get you much further in life, but there's a chance that you're not so far up your own ass you might be able to see why you're just being arrogant.

This guy knows body language. Someone else approached the dog while he was going to pet it and the dog got scared. Grow the fuck up, you're not good at anything.
#160 - anon (08/24/2015) [-]
