Hi there. My name is Simplescience, my real first name being Matt. I came to funnyjunk in the hopes of making it a little better than when I found it. Optimistic, cheerful, and a logical thinker, I do my best to make other people feel better if they are down.

My profile picture is of Mr. Game and Watch using the move Judgement: 9. This move has a 1/10 chance of bringing up a 9. If a 9 comes up and it connects with an opponent, it is a One-Hit Knock Out.

Everyone's laughing at them. No one's sympathizing with a furry who hates homosexuals.

and what do you mean outright "NO's". No as in, no I wont date them if my life depended on it? We don't see them as a viable option in the first place. For the most part, these guys are being laughed and ridiculed at for how pathetic and ugly they are. The difference between this post and the other, is that the other one showed some people trying to be funny, and some people who are just so terrible you can't help but laugh at them.

And I dunno man, "I go to school to become an airplane" isn't really there to have us show them sympathy. If anything, its the extra information that gives us reason to laugh at them even more.

-See, there's a difference between laughing at someone like in that content, and just straight up "Fuck to the no"

-Of course the guys aren't going to date them, genius. I was implying that the females of this site weren't all like "EW WTF" or something to that effect (and the reason for that is because the males would probably thumb them down, and list one of several reasons why she's wrong). You also said there's a difference in the posts. You can't exactly say "The reaction is the exact same" if there is difference in the content. That's like saying "These two cheeseburgers are the exact same, except one has pickles." See the flaw there?

Also, yeah they're stupid, but let me ask you this. Take away their dumb comments, and how many of them really look that bad?

I enjoy debate, as long as it will stay civil (which is seems to be doing) so i will continue to add points.
I also tend to avoid branding people because its frankly just bullshit, You can't know someone by looking at them or a few sentences about them, and you don't know what they may mean BUT on the other hand you can safely assume that the woman who used 10 pounds of makeup and is wearing basically no clothing might not be the match for the conservative business man, but you read on. "what are your hobbies: shopin, boozin, and having hawt sex" well....there is a personality trait, as shown in above content, its not JUST the pictures
Secondly, men are bashed, in my opinion, in some cases. Swagfags with snapbacks and shirtless coverphotos, for example. I think those guys are just a trashy as the above described girl.
finaly, i do agree womens equality doesn't mean we get rights over a mans, it means we get the SAME ot perhaps EQUAL rights.

As Co-President of a Fighting Human Trafficking organization on campus, I've actually done a bit of research on the subject (I'm not trying to troll, I just don't get many opportunities to use this knowledge).

If a woman is being trafficked, then there's a good chance she'll dress like that, because the point of the business is to attract the most men and take in the most money. No, she might not be dressed to attract a conservative businessman, but that doesn't usually stop them, at least not according to the documentaries I've seen and statistics from the U.S. Department of Justice I've found. If you don't believe me, I could point you in the direction of a documentary where they point all this out.

Am I saying that all women who dress like how you described are trafficked? No. What I am saying is that there is that chance that the person is conducting/dressing themselves for a reason that might not be immediately apparent at first glace (once again, I am not trying to say "U DON KNOW THEIR LIF!", although I know it sounds like it. What I am trying to say is that, especially when it comes to dating, it's hard to make 100% undeniable claims about the users.

In reply to your second statement, the bashing of men does go beyond the guys who dress trashy. Men are usually depicted in the media as clueless dunderheads who get hopelessly confused at the sight of a diaper, and as such are not as seen as well-fit of a parent as women tend to be (According to Jim, the SImpsons, and plenty of child-related advertisements). This has extended to court cases, where men get the short end of the stick in child support cases and child custody cases in the U.S.

women badmouth men just as much.

Maybe you wont see it on funnyjunk or on the internet, because most dont go on the internet and if they do, they go to talk to their friends on facebook, tumblr, and those chick sites.

Have you seen girls talking in groups at school? They do nothing but talk about how guys are creeps for not being attractive or of how despret virgins they are. Thats all youll hear from them. Women do badmouth men more than we actually badmouth them if you think about it.
#83 - simplescience (02/26/2013) [-]
-So that automatically means we should stoop to their level? An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

-I have plenty of female friend on campus that use the internet for more than that. I've seen plenty browse sites that aren't chick sites like Dorkly, memebase, etc. I'm guessing you haven't been around too many women surfing the internet if that's what you believe.

-Really? That's all women do? I'll have to ask the girls that are part of my Students Fighting Human Trafficking organization on campus why they don't do that then. Believe it or not, big guy, men are not all women talk about. The women you seem to be referring to sound bitter, but if you honestly think that's what all women are like, I doubt I'm the one who hasn't been around too many women. Also, I've rarely heard one of my friends talk about men the way you claim.

Your entire response is a gross generalization, and somewhat misogynistic at that.

Not exactly the worlds best counter argument, and I'll tell you why:

First, I notice a distinct traces of Forever alone present , and I'm noticing a distinct lack of "Wow that dude is ugly" and "No way would anyone date him" present in that content. Granted, a number of them are being made fun of, but I'm not seeing as many outright "NO"s as I saw on this content.

Second, I'm noticing a few comments defending the guys here. I do realize that there are a few that are being thumbed down, but for the most part, these guys are being defended, just as I said they would be.

Third, that content is quite an unfair comparison to this one. The guys give far more information and tell a bit about themselves. The women in this content don't have any of their information displayed, just their picture.

I get what you are saying but consider this: its not the way they look NATURALLY its the clothing, makeup and picture editing choices i mainly see as the problem, as a choice of your own will clothes and makeup can pretty well define at least a little part of your personality, someone who cakes it on and wears an unflattering dress that might as well just show their pubes probably is a skank. Just my oppinion, and for the record this is coming from a teenage female user.
#85 - simplescience (02/26/2013) [-]
I understand what you're saying. As with everyone else I'll reply to, I'm not trying to sound like "mah lgic is suprem!". This is mainly to keep up a healthy and lively debate, which I believe is a good way to keep ones mind sharp. Furthermore, I would have responded the same way whether you stated your gender or not. Now, on to your statement:

First, you make a valid point, and I would like to add on a few things. Up to a point, I can see where your statement holds true, but that doesn't mean that the immediate follow up action should be to brand them (don't worry, I'm not getting into the "DON JUDGE PEOPLE U DON KNOW WUT THEY BEEN THRU" speech).

Second, what I was trying to allude to was that if a guy did the same kind of thing, there would definitely more defenders of them then of the women, which seems kind of unfair. If you're willing to bash one gender, then you can't exclude the other from criticism. Same if you plan on defending them. If you defend one, you defend the other. Otherwise that kind of makes you a hypocrite and renders a statement with little merit. If you don't practice what you preach, then it's not exactly worth listening to.

Third, why should one gender receive special treatment over the other? I mean, if so many people on here are for equality of both genders (which, after the trolls have been fed, seems to be the case), then it seems counter productive to have one standard for men and one for women. I recently read an article on Yahoo (yeah I know, not the most reputable, just run with it for right now) about how women were being considered to be made eligible for the Selective Service. I thought that was fair, but it was surprising how many people did not. If we're fighting for equality that means both genders get equal treatment in all things, not just the areas that are desirable.

well betafags are mocked and told to go lift and get confiedence, then maybe they can get a girlfriend.

but like you said, most of FJ is guys so we know how each of us feels as we all have the same view.

Girls however, they dont care about looks as much as men, thats why i see ugly fuckers dating really hot girls and i think "what the fuck!?"

It also has to do with make-up, it sets up the standards very high and sometimes as seen in OPs content, too much of it can make it look like you are trying to look good even though you are ugly with or without make-up.

Most of us arnt attracted to fat chicks and thats just that...
#63 - simplescience (02/26/2013) [-]
-I see your point about going to get confidence, but then why is it betafags to go and get confidence, but if a woman does the same thing, it's name-calling central?

-You say that women don't care as much about looks as men do. That gives me the impression that a sizeable amount of men only go for a woman with looks. That's kind of a hard statement to back up, is it not? After all, there are guys that go with what might be considered ugly women and vice versa.

-Girls use makeup, but men do their own thing as well. Do they not try to pose in masculine positions, and/or wear attire that will draw the eye as to how masculine they are, or how attractive they are? No, men don't use makeup as much as women do, but that does not mean that they don't try as hard.

-So then, because you are not physically attracted to bigger women, that automatically means its ok to badmouth these women, but women are not allowed to badmouth the men that try the same without getting bitterly refuted?
#66 - methead (02/26/2013) [-]
