Hi there. My name is Simplescience, my real first name being Matt. I came to funnyjunk in the hopes of making it a little better than when I found it. Optimistic, cheerful, and a logical thinker, I do my best to make other people feel better if they are down.

My profile picture is of Mr. Game and Watch using the move Judgement: 9. This move has a 1/10 chance of bringing up a 9. If a 9 comes up and it connects with an opponent, it is a One-Hit Knock Out.

I can laugh about the joke itself. It's not the joke I have a problem with, it's the fact that there's rarely any variety in who is targeted in those jokes.

It's kind of like the constant hate on Justin Bieber or the current Moon Moon fad. It's funny at first, but after constantly seeing it over and over, the jokes just stop being funny, and starts to become annoying. I wouldn't mind so much if the jokes and ripping on America was balanced out by giving the same treatment to other countries.

Showing pride in being American gets harsh criticism and several examples of how America sucks (Ex: No Universal healthcare, lacking educational system, actions of our military, obese population, etc.), but showing pride in being of any other nationality is given a big thumbs up a majority of the time.

Not once but a million times. I am French, but he is right. I am sick of seeing America posts on here

Whereas that is character development, in the cases of Piccolo and Vegeta it's more of rehabilitation.

When I say character development I mean more of exploring the more inner personality traits for characters, rather than their blatantly obvious and total 180 changes.

But you do make your point, it's not enough to make me watch the show, but I respect your point and choice to watch the show.

What the heck? It butchered my sentence.

"the point of the response was not to make you watch the show"*

Vegeta's storyline could be construed as a 180 as the original alliance happened when the Ginyu Force came along and Vegeta just rolled with it. However, it wasn't all 180 degree changes. Vegeta didn't overnight decide to have a kid, and just decide "oh hey I'm gonna be a good guy now and blow myself up for everyone". The changes are obvious if you know ahead of time exactly what to look for, but for someone who is just watching the show, Vegeta's transformation over the course of the series is gradual and takes plenty of personal reflection to get where he is at the end.

That kind of thing came after being on earth and experiencing life there for several years. It was hardly blatant nor obvious, as Vegeta never really grew to like any of the other Z-fighters. There were several episodes where you see him reflecting upon himself and his life and what he has become over the course of the series. He does explore and try to find himself, although he does attempt to mask it by saying it's to beat so-and-so.

Piccolo originally intended to use Gohan to take over the planet after seeing Gohan's power, but ended up forming a bond instead. You can call that obvious, but he could have just as easily kept Gohan, and carried out his original plan. While there weren't as many sappy moments as there were with Vegeta, Piccolo's personality was subtly explored over the course of the series. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to explore since his beginnings came so long before the time of DBZ.

Then you have Gohan, who went from a frightened child who could not live without his father, to being a man who was able to stand on his own and fight for himself, and draw out his own ability. His character is thoroughly explored throughout the series, moreso than the other characters.

Also, the point of this response was not to make the show, which you've either done, or are making generalizations. It was to prove you wrong, and that there is character development. That's all.

I know he did, but tehubernation was asking when it's coming back, not who announced it. I was simply stating that wikipedia says the air date for the new series is July 16th

True it isn't fair, but I always viewed those as more of a joke. Besides, our society today makes fun of women constantly (i am not saying you do, just our generation in general). There are all these women logic jokes and get back to the kitchen jokes. Why can't there be some, men are buffoon jokes as well. I laugh at both, and I don't think anyone should really get offended, unless they aren't jokes and are acually being said to hurt someone.
