Taking the high Road
The US did help the French in other ways, including opposing predatory British activities on the seas (led in part to the War of 1812), and of course funding the Louisiana purchase. America allowed Napoleon to pawn the Louisiana territory in exchange for cash to help fight their war.
This was territory that was not economically productive for France, was not easy or sustainable to hold, and wouldn't be for the foreseeable future.
From what I recall from studying international law, and perhaps this has changed since then, but countries don't cease to exist merely because their government changes form, or even name - e.g. Russia is actually the continuance of the USSR - everyone recognises them as such because they adopted the USSR's debt. Republic of Turkey inherited ottoman empire.
So if there's an agreement between 'france' and 'usa' it would stand even if france changed from a republic to a monarchy or vice versa, since it's still 'france'.
Additionally, countries aren't easy to 'kill' either, i.e. in the ottoman empire, the countries they subsumed didn't necessarily cease to exist, and when the ottos were broken up a lot of countries regained their personality.
But again, perhaps this is all modern. At any rate, all that really matters is that all the other countries actually treat you as a country, in order to be recognised as one.
Actually kinda interesting how germany back in the 90's were essentially the cause of the huge bloodshed in kosovo/the balkans, since no country was willing to recognise them as a new state, but then germany does and bam everyone who lived there suddenly rises up, since they felt validated/saw a real chance. I can upload an excellent article on it if you like.

Michael Moore looks like an old SJW lesbian.
Wasn't this part of a lecture he gave trying to explain to Democrats why they were going to loose?
the double chin makes him look like a +15 years older grandma.
For the amount of crap he is slinging that feels incredibly heart felt and supportive, even in the apparent context of being inside a segment making fun of Trump...
Like, what? Did Moore feel sure Trump was going to lose, but still felt a kind of tragic sympathy for the people that honestly believed in him?
Eye see what you did there
