I might be remembering it wrong, but i wanna say you can also just ignore him and leave the area.

you can, but in doud DLC canon ending is that daud is beaten in fight by corvo and
depending on chaos rating in DLC in low chaos daud is spared and in high daud is executed. so effectively if you just leave you spare him, just without all the drama.

They had a good idea on the whole dual protagonist thing, but it wasn't done really well. GTA4 had triple protagonist and their stories mixed quite well.

Doesn't it depend on what you did as Corvo? Like, if you killed Daud than he dies no matter what your chaos is, but if you spared him he lives?

I played the DLC on my PC without doing the main story (a friend had them on steam, i finished the main storyline on my PS3 before) and I had the low chaos ending, so Daud lived. I always figured that the ending depends on the choice you made when you played as Corvo, but if you didn't play that part in the main game then Daud lives or dies based off of your chaos.

DLC1-knife of dunwall- starts from compleatly clean save. nothing from amin game carries over.
DLC2- witches of brigmore- can start from fresh save or from outcome from DLC1 as it is direct follow up.

Wo whether Daud lives or dies in DLC depends only on chaos caused within DLC.
