Putting someone in their place does not require being a dick.

Once we were working a dance show, and the director, god bless her heart, could never be satisfied with anything. I was behind our 3rd set of legs with a flown in set piece inline with the curtain with a fog machine that would be pressed on cue call. She would sit behind me telling me to set it off now, I'd ignore her. I'd hear my cue call over clear-com to pop smoke, she'd sit behind me and bitch and whine at me telling me to "give more fog we need more fog just do it now." I can't do that, I'm sorry. Skip ahead a few seconds later, "put the fog machine out further so we get more fog on stage." Sorry, I can not do that, it's not realistic and it's too far out to be noticeable to the audience. She continues to yabber anyway, I look at her straight up and tell her to bugger off and go talk to Alex (my boss that was SM'ing that night for the performance) so she did. He promptly told her that's not happening.

Alex talked to me after the show and said I did a good job dealing with that, as I stayed on cue and did what I trained for in the rehearsal process. She still comes here for performances because we're the best damn crew in the local community.

No one here is talking about being an spiteful asshole you dumb cunt.

The thing in question was a job where you can basically tell someone they are wrong and/or something will not work. Which can be done politely, and is commonly done in trade based work. I would know, I am a theatre technician and I have to deal with this all of the time.

Now would you kindly fuck right off?

OP was talking about "putting people in their place"
which means he wants a job where he gets paid to be an overt dick to morons who deserve it
a noble dream if ever there was one, but I don't get the feeling he intends to be very polite about it.
anyone seeking repeat business can't be a dick to his customers.
the person getting told is the one who would be spiteful.
there's a difference between being corrected and getting told

Just about any skilled trade based labor position.

#17 - sherlockbatman (04/13/2015) [-]
no, if I hire a skilled craftsman and they give me lip, they're fucking fired immediately. you don't come for my money and give me shit, acting like you're the only one in the world who'll do this job. fuck them. I'll hire someone else. I'll make sure every single motherfucker in a 20 mile radius hears how shitty their service is. I'd pay out of pocket to put ads up against them as far and wide as possible.
no one wants to put up with this crap.
people are spiteful.
any job that requires repeat business also requires professionalism and some etiquette.
there are basically no jobs where you can make money driving away your customers.

nope

if that's a gif of it, it's not what I'm talking about
I meant like the cosplayers, actual makeup on actors' faces
User avatar #52 - bronybox (04/12/2015) [-]
Well, cell-shading makeup will hardly work, considering, you know, shading changes at different angles either way when people move.
User avatar #61 - captainprincess (04/12/2015) [-]

User avatar #83 - hydraetis (04/13/2015) [-]
With fucking make-up? No. Powder does not work that way
#85 - captainprincess (04/13/2015) [-]
mhm
User avatar #86 - hydraetis (04/13/2015) [-]
So you're saying it's possible to make a mineral powder that actively crawls about on the wearer's skin conveniently according to lighting. What.
User avatar #87 - captainprincess (04/13/2015) [-]
no that sounds like what you're saying
And it's quite the leap from anything I suggested
User avatar #89 - hydraetis (04/13/2015) [-]
Shadows move according to the way light is hitting them. In order to do that shit manually with make-up, you'd have to reapply it every single time the actor turned around, and that would end up making the movie take as long to film as a stop-motion movie.
