>I definitely want to watch a show where the heroes don't care enough about themselves or others enough to want to be free
its not that they dont care, its that this is their world now, and they are living in it, not just fucking fighting to escape. this was a huge plot point past the first 4 episodes and you completely missed out on it.

you seem to completely ignore the fact that they literally never talked about the outside world. they did it for a reason. the moment they start thinking like you talk the "Finality" and "death" of that world may seem not quite as real to them, and it may lead them to dieing. atleast that was what they thought.
its not as simple as"your in prison" it was a world they could live in for as long as their bodies would hold out, which was yet again something they tried not to think about or talk about.

they believed that if you had conversations about the real world/thought about the real world, then it could lead to a disconnection from you and SAO, which could intern make you forget about just how final death is

as for the whole running away, these people just want to live. 2 years in and the lines start to get blurred as to whether or not they can have a real life in that game.

"wanting to live a little" is just them giving up trying to escape their prison
they're letting the bad guy win
I definitely want to watch a show where the heroes don't care enough about themselves or others enough to want to be free

and this is nothing like complaining about Ant-Man physics

"We don't get many requests for brogues, sir. Allow me to check the back to see if we have any left."

Also, I'm sure that some agents prefer brogues. They'd get plenty of grief for it, but I don't think the rules explicitly bar agents from wearing them.

>"the world is in danger, big epic quest, people's lives are actually at risk...
time to angst over our relationships"

ignoring the fact that they have been in there for 2 years and they have 100% adjusted to that world
they dont even think their lives are in danger anymore. why would they?its been their world for 2 years.

>I'm 100% sure SAO was advertised as an epic action adventure show
it sure looked like one to start

the original arc has been out since like 2002ish. you could literally just looked up any mockup years before the anime came out and easily found out its not about the mmo.
plus, are you trying to say that there arent fights almost every episode?

don't defend shows by referring to their written works
I'm not doing homework here
shows should stand alone if they're good and only get better with worldbuilding
other than that, good point
still, after 2 years in the magic matrix, they still know they're trapped in a game
they know the real world is out there and people are dying until they can free them
life can't go on in a simulation, the population can only dwindle
so the world is still in danger and everyone is still counting on them, but they deal with their love lives instead because they have accepted their fate as cyber prisoners?
these are some hardcore selfish characters then
and kinda pathetic for giving up so easily

huh.
well maybe the solution for that is not to watch it.
or maybe when you notice it becoming one stop.
you cant criticize something for being a romance drama when that was practically the point.

Yup, same reason I don't get strip joints - how furious do you/would you get if a girl/your GF looked at you, mouth open, went for your penis-wenus then just backed up. Got her ass out, looked at you, spread her cheeks then moved off.
Fuck that - paying to be teased. No... Not like you can even sit there and jack it

I wouldn't be surprised if someone just whipped out their dick during a shooting (porno not guns... I feel like I have to make that clear) and just started jacking it and then got into the porno because someone liked how it looked.

I'm sure it's happened, if it hasn't then it should. It's like a try out without actually trying out.
