Oh, my mistake. First thing that came to mind was using pigs for their manure to recreate the humus in the soil... Sorry for the confusion.

Probably, I will also take back what I previously said... pig manure actually seems to has an okay C/N ratio so there might be some growth so long as there are plants close enough to settle in the region. www.weblife.org/humanure/chapter3_7.html. Essentially how all plants work is they require accurate amounts of nutrients to facilitate growth yara.co.uk/images/430-928690.png, is a good representation for what would happen should there be limiting factors.
