In a way, everything we do is natural. We just don't see it that way though.
User avatar #26 - betars (05/14/2015) [-]
Well no, but it is still natural selection.

Storm drains aren't a part of a ducks natural environment. The duck can't conceive the storm drain as being hazardous because of it's odd shape. Nothing natural in a ducks habitat would create holes like that. Therefore the duck just leads the ducklings into a danger it doesn't conceive... I mean I guess you could say it's natural selection but that would depend on how you define human constructs. I personally wouldn't use them when assessing Darwin's law in other creatures... Thereby this isn't natural selection this is humans ruining the genetic pool of ducks.

Avoiding holes in the ground should be a natural reaction to most species.
User avatar #25 - sheathedfang (05/14/2015) [-]
Sure, but it's also natural for those ducklings to follow the leader. If anything is dumb it's the duck they are following.

Lions weigh can weigh up to 250 kilos. The one in the OP must be at least 100 kg. That's a shitton of weight jumping towards you, dude.
User avatar #16 - sheathedfang (05/09/2015) [-]
Right, but it's not as if hes taking that standing straight. If you watch his leg he takes on a stance to stop any force t he lion has from jumping at him then it's just a matter of it hanging on his body. He clearly stabilizes himself against the impact. Not trying to discredit his strength just saying stopping 100kg of weight when stabilizing yourself the way he did especially if you work with the animals wouldn't be nearly as bad.
