i still dont understand that one
User avatar #57 - iridium (08/07/2013) [-]
First of all, it's improperly done statistics.

Second of all, its grammar is rather poorly done. "Ancestors" implies that they're long dead.

It's hard to really explain, but it's one of those things that just doesn't really make sense.
#165 - jakeattack (08/08/2013) [-]
Interesting. So it's irrelevant essentially
User avatar #166 - iridium (08/08/2013) [-]
It's a matter of specifics. Just because you specifically had a small chance of being born to your parents, It doesn't mean that most of the events regarding ancestors would not have led to the birth of a human being. It also gets into this kind of whole "destiny" thing, and that doesn't really equate to mathematics very well.

Essentially, yes. It's irrelevant. Nobody should feel special just because they were born.
#167 - jakeattack (08/10/2013) [-]
I see I think, like each ancestor born passed down DNA, which each time was selected from millions of other sperm and eggs, which could have led to a different path, so each random selection of egg and sperm in each parent had only a small chance of being me. Had another egg been selected or another sperm made it, in ANY of the generations in my family tree, it would have led to a child with a different genetic makeup, and thus would not contain the conscious that I currently call "me". I started thinking this is where it gets crazy. I learned in ap bio the amount of crossing over leads to 64 million different combinations of genes within just ONE couple. So here's the crazy thing, as the tree goes up generations, the number of couples within that generation doubles. So in my parents it was 64mil, then that probability would be multiplied not by 64 million, but by 64 million^2 and then that resulting number be multiplied by 64million^4 then to the ^8 and so on. This essentially would come to a number so massive it would be almost pointless to even imagine it. Therefore it approaches Infinity
Infinite individuality. Woah, fucking woah

actually, a lot of tests on the psychological effects of colors have shown that depending on what color you wear, the things you do, say, and the way that others percieve you is changed. I use the psychological principals of color often and so do many legal officials. Its a beautiful thing.

Well I'm from Australia so we don't get too many dodge's or chevy's. But when I first started looking at cars I was dead set on getting a ute, I ended up with a 2000 model AUII falcon ute, and I love it. most of my mates started off on small 4 cylinder cars like pulsars, I thought they were a piece of shit, so I bought something more powerful. I am curious though where you live what restrictions do provisional drivers have

Is dodge good?
i was looking to get a 2500 in the next few years
and can we get a truck thread going?
<--my 06 titan
#123 - LSone (08/02/2013) [-]
For dodge it depends on the years. And since your looking for a 2500 it better be diesel. Now diesel wise dodge does NOT make their own engines but with that said Cummins is top of the line diesel wise. Dodge cant pair up a trans to it unless its a manual but the Dana rear ends are pretty damn good. i tend to just stay away from Mopar in general because all the bullshit going on there. Now im not going to lie and say Ford is shit diesel wise cause id be lying. They have their ups and downs along with the others in the big 3 like their cloging injectors in the strokes but they have fixed that since. But i would go Dirtymax (Duramax) because 1. Gm fan and 2 cause the trans that backs them, Allison. 3 it was originally Isuzu diesels that have been refined by GM. most always say though best truck ever would be Cummins engine, Allison trans, and Ford 9"

TLR 2500 go Diesel and doesnt matter the big 3 all pretty strong. but go GM cause im bias

oh and my truck

#182 - Seanacus (08/03/2013) [-]
overall, parts and installation went for 800, 1000 for a 6".
The spindles themselves were 200-250. The best bang for your buck is some spring spacers and blocks if you're just doing a small lift.
User avatar #183 - csonosky (08/03/2013) [-]

My personal experience:

Ford -- Best for the tough body and for the looks, but the engine/tranny tend to fail
Chevy -- Best for the Transmission, will sometimes have engine problems, with a moderate body
Dodge -- Incredible work-horse of an engine, but the body's will fall apart sometimes

So if you can someone get a Dodge engine in a Ford body with a Chevy transmission, then you got yourself one hell of a truck.

well im a chevy guy (go america) and here is your guide to buying an american truck

Ford: have worst gas/diesel motors but look the best
Chevy:no styling but best gas motors and decent diesel
dodge:good style under-powered gas motor but best diesel on the market

User avatar #31 - csonosky (08/02/2013) [-]
there gas engines are small but you cant beat a cummins 12v its called the million mile motor for a reason. to bad the million mile motor is in a 12 mile truck they dont really last that long.

also ford either does amazing things or sucks like the old 7.3 idi diesel is awesome and so was the 300 but now they fucking suck

You like trucks. I get that and I'm not judging but I have to ask:

Do you live on a farm? Do you find yourself pulling heavy loads? I've never seen a reason to own a truck if you don't work with it since they have a terrible MPG compared to cars and such.
User avatar #40 - shamusogrady (08/02/2013) [-]
Even though its a show truck, as most would call it, I haul stuff regularly. And yes I live on a farm. My truck sees the least of the work, but it stills gets used. FYI it has SLP exhaust and a K&N air intake. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Slow for most, fast enough for me
User avatar #42 - treefox (08/02/2013) [-]
I don't know what that means so I'll just say that's impressive. It just sort of annoys me when people get a truck and then are all like, "Dude, I would never use this thing for any sort of work except mudding."
User avatar #29 - csonosky (08/02/2013) [-]
i think everyone needs a truck for practical reasons like dump runs running to the hardware store and things like that would you put a pallet of sod in your car. me either thats why i like having a truck.

User avatar #36 - Shaostoul (08/02/2013) [-]
All of that stuff is gone. It has a mild cam on it. I built it for a supercharger, but the supercharge was blown up. Mind you, it's still quite the fast car.

It also has a race quality 3-speed tranny. It shifts so damn fast.

Getting rid of the smog stuff was one of the first modifications I did. Rims were a big thing too. I had the original hub-caps on it and them being mint, I didn't want to worry about losing them.

It is so lovely to drive, especially with the super comfy bench seats. It's funny being able to out-drive 4x4 vehicles in the snow and to smoke some pretty nice cars.

I'm waiting till I get a new rear-end to bother dyno-ing it.

I'm either going to paint it blue and have an Atreides symbol on it or paint it some sort of color scheme that'd correspond with the indie game I'm working on.
User avatar #44 - lolzponies (08/02/2013) [-]

User avatar #46 - Shaostoul (08/02/2013) [-]
My buddy owns a jeep, not something I'd own, at least the older ones. Not really my thing.

It's real hard to choose between the blue and whatever the other color would be, especially after talking with Brian Herbert about my game and how he and Kevin Anderson would like to work on a joint project revolving around my game that'd be a book series or if I'm making enough even a movie or two.
User avatar #47 - lolzponies (08/02/2013) [-]
what game are you working on?
User avatar #49 - Shaostoul (08/02/2013) [-]
Easiest way to say it is a FPSMMORPG, but I don't feel like I should compare it to anything directly.

More or less the "base game" as I'm calling it will be made, I'll have a story of some sort I'd like to follow, but the players would make choices and discuss what might be cool and whatever might be trending and sounding cool, we'd possibly implement.

Currently the players (when I have funds for a server and get a little further along in development) will be on giant colony ships (similar to the generation ships in Macross 7), and be in transit. Where upon they stumble upon a peculiar system where the game will take place.

It'll have huge amounts of customization, modular designs, mechs, vehicles, space craft, guns, explosions, aliens and whatever else we'll feel like designing, within certain (very broad) limitations.
