I don't think so. In the books, the zombies were your typical slow moving, aim-for-the-head zombies, it took quite some time for you to turn once bitten, and it was a much slower build up over the period of months before everything went to shit.

In the movies, the zombies are fast as fuck, people turn nearly instantly, and the whole world turned to shit after like a day or two.

Plus there was never anything about zombies avoiding the sick or even any type of cure in the books at all. Humanity literally had to adapt and exterminate them instead of just getting a "cure".

Sorry if this comes across as kinda ranty, but I just loved the books and I hate how the movie turned out.

Damn that sounds like a good novel. I personally really like zombie movies / games / books etc and I actually avoided this book cuz I saw the movie first and just figured it wouldn't be my kind of thing.

What you described sounds much better though, so I'm gonna pick it up next time I get the chance.
User avatar #161 - blacknbluebrony (22 hours ago) [-]
I definitely would. The whole novel is essentially a bunch of interviews of people from around the world who survived. It reads a little differently like that, but it still makes a really enjoyable read, with the many different perspectives.

We all hate the movie, nobody likes fast zombies outside of Left 4 dead and half life.

True, but I still tend to think of them as zombie movies :p

The only reason I personally disliked the movie was because I viewed it from the perspective as having to be like the book.
When you throw that perspective out the window, it's not half bad of a movie.

That novel taught me more about strategies against zombies than anything else has.

Plus, It taught me how to fire a SAW. Fire in intervals where you say "Die motherfucker die."

Discovered this movie and the TDWP EP "Zombie" at the same time. There's nothing like watching a massive hoard attack a bunch of people then hearing "Oh my god.. They're everywhere" Then a sick drop.

Yeah, but if you're going to make the movie be completely different from the source, why not just make the movie it's own stand alone thing instead of claiming it's a movie adaptation?

and I believe that it would've been far better to make World War Z into a mini-series instead of a movie

The movie had close to absolutely nothing in common with the book, which greatly disappointed me
User avatar #68 - shadowhorn (09/04/2015) [-]
Yeah, but if you think about it it would be difficult to transfer the plot of the book (which was essentially a history) into a movie that people would actually wanna see. I do agree with you though.
