Because personal finances should come before personal taste.

Allow me to reference a similar situation I went through. I really, really wanted to go to a certain college, but after doing the calculations, I found I would've had to graduate with upwards of $30,000 in debt for roughly the same education I would've received at other, similar institutions I had been accepted to. I decided against going with my first college, even though I desperately wanted to go, because I knew I had to be smart with my budget. Had I gone with a product that costs a fuckton more compared with other, similar products, I would've been just another fool who makes uninformed, emotion-based decisions instead of calculated, informed ones.

People buy different things. Sometimes for money. That's how things work.
There's no need to be mad at somebody for spending more on something that you did. There's a fine line between having a preference for something, and being an asshole. I'm not responding anymore, because you've crossed that line.

Oh man, it's been too long...dolls of all the cool Pokemon, some trophy item...now I need to dig out my Ruby version and look

Yeah, I think I had it on Emerald. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a massive pokemon MMO where people could all have their own hideouts, so that others could visit, maybe battle, stuff like that. Even with the exact same format as the old games would be awesome. Just on a massive scale. Maybe by making the maps a couple dozen times bigger, then setting up multiple worlds, almost like club penguin in a sense. People could meet up with their friends, see each others houses, battle, make their teams stronger together, etc. It could be fucking awesome...
#27 - iamtheblackgoat (05/06/2013) [-]
It's almost not worth trying it...having it made and then having it crash and burn for whatever reason would be more depressing than attempting to build a utopia like that

But just think of how easy it could be to make... and Nintendo could have a feild day with reaping in the profits. They could have actual prices for things like pokeballs and stuff, maybe as low as 1 cent a ball, and they'd get millions a day. People's supplies in the game could cost something, higher ranking balls could cost more... In the end, it would cost less for them to distribute, for lack there of distributing, and t could cost less for the people, who would be paying a couple bucks to starts, and cents along the way at a time.
It would be amazing for both groups. A win win scenerio. and this is coming from someone that generally dislikes videogames.

I need a laptop for about the same reasons as you, yet with only minimal research one can find fine anti-virus software on a PC that's free to boot, plus I saved a substantial amount of money by going PC instead of Mac.

And even if you don't do those things, you're completely sealing yourself off from them if you eventually find them to be to your liking. Plus you're screwed out of hundreds, potentially thousands of dollars by buying a mostly inferior product.

I like my computer though. I don't see how buying something I like is stupid.
You like PCs, so you buy a PC. I like Macs, so I bought a Mac.
No need for fighting, we just like different things.

the reason macs "don't get viruses" is because such a limited amount of software. Also, the amount of people that use a mac can't quite justify writing a virus.

I see no point in this. I just like a different type of computer than you. If you have nothing better to do than insult someone for liking a different piece of equipment, I honestly kind of feel bad for you.

No, making fun of mac is like the guy in the pickup truck making fun of the guy in lamborghini, except the lamborgini just looks like a lamborgini.
It's really just a pickup truck disguised as a lambo so that you'll pay more for it. Fact.

I'd rather give myself papercuts in the webbing of my fingers rather than buy a Mac. If you like OSX then I urge you to just install it on a non-Apple PC. It will literally function just as well, you can upgrade it, you can service it yourself, and it will cost a fraction of the price.
#38 - jrondeau (05/06/2013) [-]
Here's the thing though:

To your average everyday person, a Mac may seem better than a PC because typically whatever costs more and tends to be better, but to anyone who has done even the slightest bit of research as to what owning a Mac entails, PC > Mac for almost every purpose. This would be fine, but couple this with the fact that a Mac costs significantly more than a PC and you're just another dumb fuck who bought a lesser product because of its brand name and shininess.
#42 - seniorpokeman (05/06/2013) [-]
I don't need to do the same things that you do with my computer.
I don't game.
I don't write code.
I have no need to have a computer that I customized.
I just need something that runs fast, looks good, and doesn't get viruses.
For me, the mac was the best option. A bit pricey, but still, it's the best laptop I've ever owned.
No need to call me a dumb fuck. I'm just someone with a different taste in computers than you.
