I write books for a living, well, as much of a living as a 20 year old male can make writing books in his living room. >.>

I was honestly just wondering whether or not this was some sort of video game, or a roleplay like a LARP, or just a story. I have never even seen this game being played, I know almost nothing about it.

It wasn't LARP. I'd go into more detail, but I think the other responses to your original comment have more or less answered your questions, no?

There's a difference between saying what happened in the game, and what he "saw"

it's not so much that he actually saw it, it's more or less that he imagined seeing it because he can imagine what something is "supposed" to look like. When told a story in great deal, or telling a story in great detail, you want to describe what you feel, see, smell, hear, everything. It's so that we can relate to what's being said. If I say "I saw the blue dragon fly in front of the sun." You're like oh okay. But if I say. "The majestic azure drake soared through sky, bounding in front of the sun, gleaming like a precious gem." You can envision the dragon better. He's a majestic, almost shiny blue, he's a drake, so certain features can be taken out because of specie differences, etc. It all depends on the amount of work you or your brain puts into creating the image crafted with words.
