And Korra could be some transexual apachi attack condom fetus for all i care, aslong as isn't rushed and out of the blue.
User avatar
#13 - mystogan (06/06/2016) [-]
They rushed it. they spent time to build up a relationship between korra and mako and then threw it away to make korra and asami lesbians because fans kept drawing them in their perverted fantasy fanart.

If they had a another season to build up the relationship between korra and asami that isn't some rushed bullshit out of the blue, i, among many others wouldn't be angry.

I got nothing against trans people, it's their choice to fuck their own bodies up with hormones and dress like someone of the opposite sex.

When they start to complain about getting special bathroom privileges in public restrooms, I start to have a problem. Even the highest estimates for number of transgendered people never go above 1% of the population. Unisex bathrooms have their own problems, and they aren't getting their own special snowflake bathrooms.

People shouldn't be glorifying this behavior in any way. These people have a mental disorder.

Not according to the experts on the subject and people who make that sort of a classification, but yeah okay

Social studies professors who have to release a toilet paper about shit they couldn't care less so the university continues to pay them.
Does not necessarily only apply to social studies, a lot of professors are guilty of leisure papers.

being transsexual is not right mi not saying we should't treat them like descent human beings but treat it like it is a mental disease it is not normal
User avatar
#125 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
It isn't normal. No one says it's normal. It is very much atypical. But there's nothing about a transgender person's brain that is damaged or diseased, it is just structured atypically for a person of that physical sex. So it isn't a mental illness. Do your research dude. It really isn't classified as one for legitimate reasons
#62 - krygas (04/03/2016) [-]
Gender dysphoria or gender identity -->DISORDER<--

Don't try to soften it in honey and milk; it's a mental issue like many others.
It's not their fault for being transgender in the same way it's not their fault for having depression, I'm not saying they're psychos and should be gassed.
User avatar
#70 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
Gender identity disorder? Really? The American psychology Association completely eliminated that term four years ago to replace it with gender dysphoria. And in the actual dsm entry for gender dysphoria, it states that being trans in and of itself is not a mental illness. Trans people only have a mental illness if they suffer from a state of dysphoria or depression due to their condition. You have to be trans to have gender dysphoria, but being trans does not mean you have it

Sweet fucking Jesus, how the world has gone insane.

I sexually identify as an attack helicopter. I like to run around and go SWASWASWASWA DAKKA DAKKA BOOM BOOM BOOM.
Am I mentally ill yet? Is there a limit?
User avatar
#303 - mmroos (04/04/2016) [-]
Sorry to interrupt your discussions but... but.... "I sexually identify as an attack helicopter" got me laughing so fucking hard. I almost got coffee over my screen. Thank you for making my day. Tears rolling over my face.

Anyway, I 'll let you guys/attackhelicopters continue on your discussion whether being a trans is a mental dysfunction.
User avatar
#81 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
Except gender is a human condition, attack helicopter is not. And there are marked differences between the brains of each gender (unlike something like race according to our current knowledge) so it can happen that a "male" has a "female" brain. A human cannot have the brain of an attack helicopter...yet

I do believe being transgender is a result of how we develop, rather than something that's learned or socially constructed. I've identified as the opposite gender since I was very young, before I had any concept of what being trans is.
#83 - krygas (04/03/2016) [-]
A male having a female brain is as much an illness as a human having a dog's tail imo, but apparently I have been wrong in the face of modern science for the past 4 years and I will continue to be

Sorry for wasting your time.
#92 - freakybeeswax (04/03/2016) [-]
Why would a human "having a dogs tail" be the metaphor that you use? We are humans. They are referring to a human male having a human female's brain, which is 100% possible depending on our hormones while we're developing.
User avatar
#85 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
The structure of the brain would be atypical for a male, but it wouldn't be damaged or diseased in any way, that is why it isn't an illness. Although you can continue to be wrong in the in the face of modern science if you wish to
#326 - anon (04/04/2016) [-]
>Damaged or diseased

You don't really understand how mental illnesses work, fo you?
User avatar
#327 - twiceasfun (04/04/2016) [-]
No, I fully understand, you're just assuming that I am meaning damaged or diseased in a sense that I do not
User avatar
#61 - theist (04/03/2016) [-]
even these "experts" are swayed by public opinion and political correctness. It's sad really. If your son came up to you and said "dad, I'm actually an 80yr old in a young boy's body" you would take your son to a psychiatrist. But apparently if they feel like the opposite gender it's a completely normal that was a "mistake" in the womb. Everything happens in the brain. If the person feels like they are in the wrong body, then that's a defect in their brain, it's not nature getting their dna wrong.
User avatar
#72 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
Except transgender doesn't even fit the definition for mental disorder. In order for to qualify as an illness or disorder, it must be a hindrance on that person's ability to function, meaning that them being trans is not an illness. It only becomes an illness if they suffer from gender dysphoria which is not the same as being trans. So it wasn't political correctness, it was a reevaluation and change of classification based on the results of that evaluation. Not to mention the whole thing about trans people apparently having brains different from their physical sex that match their identified gender. That one I don't know much about and won't speak on, but it's apparently a thing
#342 - inocentz (04/04/2016) [-]
Considering that a lot of them commit suicide before and after surgery I'd say it's a pretty big hindrance on their ability to function. Or are we just forgetting about those people?

Don't get me wrong, I have trans friends and I wish the best for them. I really do because they are wonderful people. But you can't sit there and act like it doesn't cause problems for them unless you don't think killing yourself is a hindrance to functioning.
User avatar
#367 - twiceasfun (04/04/2016) [-]
I explained that already
User avatar
#366 - twiceasfun (04/04/2016) [-]
Those people would gender dysphoria, which is not the same as being trans, but you must be trans to have it, which does not mean that all trans people do though
#41 - freakybeeswax (04/03/2016) [-]
If they were trans, they would shave. Trans people want to look as much like the gender they are that they can. Transwomen in general HATE having facial hair.
User avatar
#51 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
In general, yes. I hate having facial hair for example. But not shaving doesn't make them less trans. The person above might be an attention who're trying to make it incredibly obvious that they're trans, but there are trans women that do not necessarily always shave
#57 - freakybeeswax (04/03/2016) [-]
If you want to pass as female, its something that you should do though.
Are you a transwoman? I'm a transman

Oh and yes I am a transwoman, for some reason your spoiler wouldn't show before
#63 - freakybeeswax (04/03/2016) [-]
That makes sense. It sounds like it'd be really stressful to not be able to shave under those circumstances.
User avatar
#67 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
That's how it was for me until around nine months of hormones. It was a pain in the ass to shave, but I still did and then used foundation to keep what remained and came back from being too visible
#79 - freakybeeswax (04/03/2016) [-]
Good for you. Being trans really sucks. It takes a lot of courage to transition (so many shitty people out there.) I've always looked super masculine to begin with (even when I had long hair, people would called me sir), so I'm kind of lucky in that way. Only problem is that binding doesn't work 100% because of my breast size.
User avatar
#80 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
I really don't think that being trans sucks. I guess there are a lot of shitty people out there, but in my city, I don't encounter any. And the only difficulties I've had from being trans was that it was more difficult to find a job when I needed one because of losing my previous one, and my parents who never liked me anyway were given what they consider to be a legitimate excuse to cut me out of their lives
User avatar
#58 - twiceasfun (04/03/2016) [-]
Well if you want to pass, which is the goal of most trans girls. It's why I shave and got laser hair removal, but I've known one that had super stubborn hair and super sensitive skin so shaving was not only painful, but it didn't even keep the hair away for more than two hours at a time, and I knew another girl who was just plain lazy and was certainly trans, but didn't care about image and passing. It's rare, but it happens

Besides, is feminism even needed in North America and Europe anymore...?

Yes it is. Sexisum is like racisum. It hasn't gone away, it has just become more sneaky and harder to see for people some people. But trust me, both of them are still around and talking about if it is or not stops us from figuring out how to make it no longer be.

In the deep south of united states of America it is. Definitely.
We are still around 40 years behind here in everything though...
-only one day of sex ed. and we learned about abstinence.
-had to have parents signature saying that they understood that we would spend a science class learning about evolution. (and they parents could choose to have us taken out of class.)
(and this is a public school in a university town)

My single mom, who earned her doctorate from MIT, was told that she had to have her father's signature when she trying to buy land to build a house (since she was no longer married.)
