She was really good in 'Silver Linings Playbook', though.

Her performance was serviceable, yes, but not what people would traditionally think of as an Oscar winning performance. That year in particular was a lacklustre year for female performances, and it also happened to be the year where Jennifer Lawrence was blowing up in popularity, you put two and two together, and you get an Oscar. It's more of a popularity contest at times. Look at Martin Scorsese; despite making handful of films that are regarded as some of the best ever to come from Hollywood, he didn't win an Oscar for Best Director until the Aviator (ironically, another Leo D movie), a film that was arguably some of his weakest work, yet he was snubbed for Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and more.

Leo will probably win this year, it's his "time" since the world has started to acknowledge his lack of Oscar. Give this a read, it offers a good insight into how the Oscars operate, and how it's an essentially flawed system that removes the meaning of the awards: www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/5-behind-scenes-facts-about-how-oscars-dont-work/

The comic was made during the older patch, and I'm guessing Riven doesn't count as an enemy for PA.

At least he's using it correctly. Unlike most people on this site.

Unpopular Opinion Penguin makes you immune to most criticism. People who don't agree see that tuxedo'd bastard and think "Huh, you know I guess I could see why he thinks that" instead of the more common "Fuck you faggot! Your thing sucks!" approach on FunnyJunk. Then it's on front page and the threads shudder with the ferocity of the debates it births.

I'm currently getting **** because someone said the right way to spell honor/honour was "honour". People are getting piss mad at me because I said we're speaking the same language.

After all, you don't speak British, and I don't speak American. We both speak English, correct?

By definition, I speak English (British standard) and you speak English (American standard), and you're right, for you, the correct spelling is 'honor'. People who try to correct on that are just being pedantic and making an obnoxious stance on their patriotism. Frankly, I prefer the American standard of spelling; it removes letters that in the context of the spelling structure of a word makes sense, and a lot of what we use are superfluous artifacts from the word's origin.

Thank you. It's the same language, in a different form, and everyone from across the sea is as butthurt as if I had dumped more tea into the ocean.

Also, congratulations. I rarely have to question the meaning of a word (my vocabulary is, so I'm told quite advanced), but I had to stop and think about what "pedantic" and "superfluous" meant.
