maybe current Bioware...
They neutered the cover system to uselessness
Guns feel weaker (fully leveled shotguns using the n7 rank 4 modded and up close still always takes 2 shots minimum)
I've ended up relying almost exclusively on the three abilities it allows me to use at any given time and my melee for damage (rank 1 Asari sword, which not only does the same damage as my nearly fully upgraded shotgun but gives me blinks of invulnerability and shields back)
50% of the time I stop moving I get focused and the 50% the enemy will stand still and stare at me
My allies are almost useless (the krogan will actually butt some heads and I've seen PeeBee actually use her powers though still not enough to feel as useful as any of the other games)
It feels fun to execute a perfect combo and I feel, and arguably am, invincible running around in normal difficulty, but the only times the combat is challenging is when you're fighting the mini boss tanks that are specifically designed to one shot grab you if you get too close and are designed to be bullet sponges at a range. The only fight I've had so far that was an agreeable challenge and didn't feel cheep was against the
in the mission "Making an Impression"
Removing cover took a lot (but not all) of the uniqueness to each fight out of the game, ME1 - ME3 each fight you got in had unique ways to approach, flank, and defend. ME:A doesn't, the only time fights feel different is when it's against a boss/miniboss. It does feel fun but it also feels shallow and cheap (it's like Dynasty Warriors without any objectives)
Technically the conversations and roleplay are still suppose to be a part of the core gameplay mechanics so here ya go.
Ryder and several of the crew are awkward, Severely Awkward. It's endearing some times like one of Ryder's lines if you romance Suvi Anwar. But it's also ass retarded sometimes like "I think I really pissed that one off! Maybe because I shot him in the face!"
Also personally the "new" aliens don't feel new at all (to me at least) the player character will go on for a brief conversation about how different they talk and act compared to the familiar aliens and human's but there is next to no difference.
The biggest problem with the writing though, is the "Decisions" it gives you. Which I will spoil for you here, out of the 10 or 12 minor and "major" decisions I've been through, only two of which actually would have changed anything going the other way and I'm not even sure if those would have ended up mattering later on or not. They abandoned even the basic effort of trying to give you different choices like the saving or destroying Rachnai, the matriarch, the colonists, etc from the first game. They didn't matter in the end of the next games but they gave you that sense of a difference which is lacking here.
Oh and the "twist" was predictable from the second they started trying to build up to it.
Real Spoiler this time-->
Leaving the base intact but killing the Cardinal was satisfying though
It is a good Game but it is not as good of a Mass Effect game.
6/10 for fans who came on during ME1 and 2
7/10 for fans who came on during ME3 and Newcomers
So it's gone the way of Fallout 4.
I understand why RPGs are going in a combat focused direction, and stripping choice and consequence from games. Mass market appeal, It's easier to provide instant gratification through combat, whereas a well crafted story you have to make your way through, dealing witht the consequences of your decisions is not instantly rewarding and even requires dealing with poor decisions that you make.
What I don't understand is why people are just taking it lying down. Apparently Gamers just don't care about Choice and Consequence or a well-written story that you can make for yourself or at least participate in off the rails.
Apparently as long as the crafting system is up to snuff and you can shoot the baddie, nothing else matters.
You guys really do not get it, like at all. Everyone is shitting on the game not because it's not fun, a lot of games that get a ton of flak are fun, a lot of people found infinite warfare fun, a lot of people found battlefield 1 fun, a lot of people are going to find Andromeda fun, but having FUN is not the problem here.
"Besides the animation" "Animations are sub-par but that's not what I play games for" As if AAA Devs with the manpower, experience, and skill of Bioware can't do any better. Why are you cutting them slack? Why are you moving past an aspect of the game you KNOW they can do BETTER? Big game developers deserve to be treated harshly, that's why they're BIG game developers, they got where they are for a reason. This isn't like some small game dev who puts out a fun game with some shotty graphics; current DICE/EA, Infinity Ward, and now Bioware is the equivalent of 30 year olds who fail to complete basic adult tasks, it's unacceptable, and should not be funded by anyone.
I really dislike lumping people together, but take it with a grain of salt, people like you guys are killing the gaming industry, stop giving people your money for things you KNOW they didn't try on, instead of buying it and saying the game is fun. Sticking my finger up my ass is fun, doesn't mean it's not shitty.
it was made by an offshoot of the company and simply licenced under the bioware brand, like 90% of the games bioware make.
And apart from a few animation glitches, things that, to be fair, should have been caught in play testing, the animation isnt actually that bad.
and the bad stuff is a blink and you'll miss it dealy, or go into the ass end of nowehre where you have no reason to go to find it dealy.
Hell, this scene is a perfect example, I didnt even notice it because the scene where she pulls out a gun last LITERALLY half a second, if it werent for people pointing it out I wouldnt have noticed.
Additionally I see a lot of people talking about the lip sync issues, I admit im having that issue, but Im on a pc that just barely meets the minimum requirement, so I'd like to know if people with higher end pcs are having that problem
I remember previous Mass Effect games having these issues too.
- Hehehehe, I've seen you before.
- If you picture his backpack as a gorillas head you can kind of see it.
Fool me once
How many gorilla's have hairless white asses though?
how often does the everyday man see a gorilla, or even reads about them?
