Also look here,

Islam and Judaism are quite similar in that regard. The Old Testament teachings display a God of power and a God of war. One who is bloodthirsty and one who spread his message through conquering others much in the same way of Islam...however most of that could be due to the fact that Islam was a later set of teachings that complied mostly of Judaistic beliefs alongside those of Mohammed, who was believed to be the final profit of God, rather than Christ of Nazareth. Because after all, it is in fact an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion and so therefore naturally shares many similarities to Christianity and Judaism.

However something that also should be taken into account is that, unlike Judaism or Christianity, Islam has never gone through a significant period of reformation...in its essence, Islam is actually one of the more pure religions in existence do to the fact that it has not allowed societal pressures to dictate change of the belief structure, leaving everything purely to either literal or metaphoric interpretation.

I would also add that Christianity is to a large degree separated from government, whereas Islam is not.

"Additionally, Mohammed was a warlord who used the Koran to justify his conquests." That isn't unique. It has been done before by Christians, but not by the founder.

Yeah, that was the point I was making. The Bible may make it easier to justify doing terrible things than without, but it doesn't straight out tell its readers to do so.
