>>#78, Apologies for not seeing this sooner. It's crazy shit and I'm not sure you could fully understand it from an explanation, sometimes it needs to be seen to be believed.

I'll keep it TL;DR: Computers operate on 0s and 1s. Their behaviour is sequential, so for example if you hacked an account with a computer, it would try different passwords in a specific order, regardless of what is likely or unlikely and what improves chances of success. A concept called entanglement covers this, where miniscule versions of bits called qubits are able to operate and test thousands of possibilities in a single turn. This speeds up the process, but logically they can only be 0 or 1. To increase the understanding of the report, the qubit energy is measured to determine the result. Using light, the Finnish researchers found that you can produce 2 with them, making them qutrits. This increases the speed that a quantum computer operates at, and the capabilities it has. If you could add 1 more number to binary and evolve to trinary, you can understand that it REVOLUTIONISES the capabilities of whatever it pertains to. For quantum computers, new pathways have just opened up in terms of speed and depth of understanding. You can see why this is so fucking important.
