He made 3 absolutely brilliant movies, got us all to circlejerk about it, which was a great circlejerk. Next, he made 3 horrible movies that are relevant to the previous 3 brilliant movies, thus making billions of dollars.
For my wallet, that's a great idea. For my morality, that's absolutely terrible.

I never understood why people liked Star Wars so much, I don't see the brilliance in it other than the revolutionizing special effects. I thought everything else was mediocre, the writing, the story, the acting, etc. I didn't even think that the fight scenes were that great either, especially that Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader fight, it just looked like two old men touching dicks with each other.

I'm not going to make a judgment about how old you are, but maybe you just don't remember what sci fi was like before Star Wars. So much of it was new, and now tons of elements are borrowed by other sci fis now, which is probably why it may retrospectively seem like 'nothing special'. It certainly was revolutionary and a great story to boot.

I don't see how my age would make a difference unless it's a movie for little children, I'm 18, but I saw the films when I was 11 or so and I rewatched a while back and I don't see how that would make a difference other than the fact that I'm more used to better special effects. And I acknowledge that the special effects were very good for it's time and it was revolutionizing for the sci-fi genre. Also, I'm not like some are from my generation, I don't mind when special effects aren't top notch so I enjoy movies from the past as much as new one's and I actually prefer the older ways of special effects because you can really appreciate the art when it's not all just done on a computer.
BTW, what do you mean by "maybe you just don't remember what sci fi was like before Star Wars."? Of course I don't remember because I wasn't born in the 70's. Are you really saying that you are in your 40's? Nothing wrong with that, but when you're hanging out on FJ it's not like it's common to be over 40 so don't expect that people are in that age range.

I mention age because Star Wars really revolutionized the genre and so to younger audiences it is harder to tell that because you couldn't know just how big of an impact it had. I don't like to give out too much identifying info on FJ but I will say that I was born before all of the original Star Wars movies came out. Anyway, my point wasn't just limited to special effects (yes these were very revolutionary as well), but also storytelling elements. It's like saying the model T ford was "nothing special" but really it set the foreground for all cars in existence today.

I found the story to be fantastic, but I don't like to debate such an opinionated topic. The lightsaber battles don't need to be glorified and like dancing (as was the problem with Phantom Menace, Clones, and Revenge/Sith). Honestly, Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader is much more interesting than Obi-Wan vs Anakin in Revenge of the Sith; the battles are between the same characters, but the former is more interesting because it isn't an hour long CGI plastered bore-fest; it actually progresses the story in a timely manner. Plus, it is one of the major points of the movie: Anakin kills his own son's mentor.

I don't understand how people don't know that starwars used to be one large book all 6 movies were just one big story so episodes 1-3 were written before 4-6. He started at a new hope because he was told it would not catch on and he would make only 1 film.

"While he was writing the original Star Wars that is, the later retitled "A New Hope" film , George Lucas reportedly realized the story he had written was too vast in scope to be covered in one film. The original film was intended to introduce a wider story arc that could be told in sequels if the first film was successful. Star Wars evolved from the first film in the sequence to a film belonging to the saga's second trilogy. By the time of the third draft, Lucas had negotiated a contract that gave him rights to make two sequels. He had also developed an elaborate backstory to aid his writing process. While writing the first sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, Lucas considered directions in which to take the story. He turned the villain Darth Vader into the father of hero Luke Skywalker and developed a backstory in which Vader was once Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, a powerful warrior who defected to the dark side of the Force. With this backstory in place, Lucas decided the series would be a trilogy, renaming the film from "Episode II" to "Episode V". By the time of the trilogy's final film, Return of the Jedi, Vader became a tragic character and was ultimately redeemed. Lucas said he was "burned out" and would take a break from the series."
Anon, what the fuck are you talking about?

He did put in a lot of shit, like fucking wookies, and shit. I fucking hate that he have to put his fetish shit in all his movies.
