Fair enough. Though, as I stated, success could simply not be in the cards for some folks, For example, you ever met somebody who seems to fall flat on their face in just about anything they do? some people just don't have the potential to make a mark on society that's worthy of personal pride. So as long as it doesn't go as far as saying others are inferior, I have no problem allowing a sense of pride in God-given traits.

I can agree (especially with the "as long as it doesn't go as far as saying others are inferior" part), but with all being said I don't think you neccesarily have to leave a mark on society to feel pride. It is important to learn to celebrate small victories, and if you take it one step at a time, even if you don't do anything of much significance, you'll end up pushing your limits and achieving better things. For me, just trying to do positive things is enough reason for pride in myself Not to say I have done much of that lately

Not everyone is destined for something great. Sometimes keeping pride in what you were born as is one of the few small things that allow people to sleep at night. I understand the thinking on many sides of many arguments. I don't agree with them all, but I understand. Your argument isn't wrong, but as someone who doesn't have the greatest lot in life, I disagree.

I can sympathise with those feelings of unfulfillment and I get that for some people having pride in assigned-at-birth things like nation, race, sex or sexual orientation is an escape from that, but if you've already realised that this pride comes as compensation of a lack of pride in yourself, I don't think you should stick to that pride, as it may work as a will sedative that's keeping you from achieveing because "I'm all set in this field, at least I have that". There's nothing wrong in liking yourself the way you are (in fact, it is a positive thing that can gives strength), I'm just saying for me it doesn't go as far as feeling pride or considering my "godgiven" characteristics a personal victory.

My thoughts exactly. Whether its black, white, straight, or gay pride. Makes no logical sense to me how you can be proud of a literal dice roll you didn't even make.

I'm proud of my father for selling his business. I had nothing to do with that, but I'm proud and it's a perfectly reasonable emotion to have. Pride in something is independent of one's involvement in the subject, sometimes you can be involved, sometimes not.

There's a difference between the two: Your relationshpi.

Let's look at the definition: a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.

You're proud for your father because he is your father, he is part of your family. The reason is because he is related to you.

Proud of white people's accomplishments? You have no relationship with other white people you don't know, besides the color of your skin. That's like saying "I'm proud of that man I don't know down the street who sold his business that has black hair, like me." Ok, I guess you could say that, but it's not going to make much sense.

Conversely, people shouldn't feel guilty for something their ancestors did a long time ago if they are no longer a part of it.

The people of Germany for example, are so wracked with guilt that they even have a term for it, "Kollektivschuld". It means the collective guilt/debt the Germans bear for the atrocities their country commited in WWII.

I feel like it was created simply to make a point. I don't even know if the creators had any intention of dating anyone. Most likely just a social statement.
