Ironically, I had to do a lot of reading for the citations in this video, which amounted to a book title and author flashed on the screen for a second, hoping nobody actually goes and checks it out. Much like what you've been doing.
The book cited when talking about safer cars making for more unsafe drivers was this:
books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=3HCQGKKG_YgC&oi=fnd&pg=PA82&dq=wilde,+gerald+injury+prevention+1998&ots=PwMBEWF78X&sig=Y7PlRh6tM2Nh3vrLVufqhuUU0ew#v=onepage&q=wilde%2C%20gerald%20injury%20prevention%201998&f=false

It's a book about reducing occupational injury. If you could just pick through it and find for me the data on safer cars leading to more crashes that would be great.
By data I don't mean some dude just saying it. I want actual numbers.

Cute that you blocked me.

It's been a few days but I haven't been on for them and you are retarded and need to be shown why.

You stated that safer cars are more likely to end up in a crash. You linked an article with data of death rates, nowhere in this article is data that says safer cars equals more crashes. If you had linked an article about increased crash rates I would concede my point but you didn't.

You could have just said to yourself "Oh man I was an idiot there, I guess I should actually have some data to back up my statements next time!" but you didn't. You peeled through the article, found the word confidence and posted the sentence that contains it here triumphantly. The quote you pulled doesn't even say safer cars make for more dangerous drivers it says higher crash safety ratings give the driver a higher degree of confidence that they won't fucking die in the event that they get into a crash.

Did you even read the article? It says nothing about driver overconfidence leading to increased death rates. The study compared death rates based on vehicle type.
It doesn't even say that safer cars are more likely to end up in a crash.
#82 - rainyeyes (09/23/2016) [-]
"Passenger vehicles with excellent safety ratings may provide a false degree of confidence to the buyer regarding the relative safety of these vehicles as demonstrated by our findings," says Jehle. "Consumers should take into consideration the increased safety of SUVs in head-on crashes with passenger vehicles when purchasing a car."

Yes but you clearly didn't.

that actually makes sense. I would have voted against it given the chance simply because I like preserving tradition but that is a valid and respectable reason for the change.

#88 - gabeonetwofour (09/06/2016) [-]
It wasn't even that big of a deal. The problem was that Canadians as a whole were overwhelmingly against it or didn't care and they changed it anyway, spending hours of time debating two goddamn words when there are FAR more important problems our country has.

I wouldn't say so. Unemployment is nearly 10% here in Alberta and has been steadily rising for awhile now. We also have a problem with reserves and our government has no better plan besides tossing money at the problem. Yeah, life is better here than most countries but it still isn't easy for most people living paycheck to paycheck.

"just a song"

Ok, i wonder why germans may not sing the entire "Song of the germans" Lied der Deutschen , oh yeah, thats right, history. Canada has nothing to be ashamed about, and a national hymn, isnt "just a song".

Since highschool I haven't once sung the National anthem and to this day I don't see any other function other than national pride. Its purpose is meaningless. If they were to implement some other sort of change that had a bigger impact on Canadian society, I would consider it much more than "just a song", but feel free to explain.
