I tried to lose weight with cardio but I wasted a long time. Cardio is good for a warm up and after that you should use it different ways. Running for an hour straight will burn a lot of calories and that's good but it can be better. Doing interval training, like jogging for 2 minutes and then sprinting for 30 to 60 seconds, is known to boost HGH and metabolism. The GH tells your body to lose fat and gain muscle and the metabolism will actually burn off more calories through the day than exercise. That means you should boost it with caffeine, like coffee and green tea, and drinking lots of water. Theres more ways and you should look them up to see what you can incorporate with your diets. Your diet should have lots of protein and vegetables. I try to eat my weight in protein transferred to grams. Eat six small meals so your body I constantly having to use its metabolism.
You should switch out cardio for strength training. The more muscle you have on you the more calories you burn. A good workout would be smaller weights with a lot of reps to get you toned and burning that fat.

I don't want to ditch cardio completely, but maybe I should go for more of a balance. Maybe cut cardio back to 45 minutes and strength for 30?
I'll try splitting meals up from 3 to 6, there should be no problems there. I've been getting lots of veggies, but I don't eat much meat, so I might be lacking when protein is concerned. Perhaps I'll go out and fetch myself a good dozen of eggs.
