"The grass is blue and the sky is green." - Initial statement

"The grass is very sad, and the sky is sick" - what was meant to be portrayed

"I'm a huge fucking idiot" - what was portrayed

Not to mention the basic principle is flawed as well. You could easily make a movie shitting on America and the American life style and people in America will buy it! Why you may ask? Because a population is not it's stereotype. Just because you live somewhere doesn't mean you sign over to a certain set of morals and beliefs. (Unless you're in a 3rd world nation of course, then the ratio is a bit more skewed)

Sure, but it's not illegal and the country would condone terrorism against those that made it. Obama is frequently killed off in various online pictures, comics, and even flash videos. A movie? So fucking what? It's called freedom of speech.

There's just that, the reverse thing isn't possible. NK can't make a succesful movie about assassinating an American president, they just don't have the actors/money/willpower.

What I'm saying is, NK is irrelevant. Make fun of them, that's the only thing to do that makes sense.
#217 - genasi (12/19/2014) [-]
actually, money is probably the one thing they're not lacking. the dear leader could theoretically pay for a movie himself.

That's why I asked. The last line contradicts the entire statement.

North Korea is a horrible country, where the leader is a fat, spoiled dictator and no one has any kind of rights.

The regime in NK must perish, and the movie is a wonderful way to do that.

You can't compare NK to USA, they have a functioning government. Kim Jong-Un is only the leader of NK because of his grandfather, and the fact that you wrote the comment proves that you think of NK as any other nation.
User avatar #63 - rabidcookiemonster (12/18/2014) [-]
You do raise a fair point, I have contradicted myself, also I do agree with you on most parts, but at the bare bones of it, it is a satirical film poking fun at an already unstable environment in NK. With a leader who already has a grudge with the US (nay the entire world) i'm just stating an opinion on the fact that I believe if this was reversed, it would not be as well received.
User avatar #67 - mauerman (12/18/2014) [-]

kim jong un doesnt play himself dickhead, so how is that the same?
User avatar #183 - rabidcookiemonster (12/19/2014) [-]
in most films where the american president is involved, the actor playing him bears no likeness to the actual president. In this case they are playing someone who not only looks like but is named the same as kim jong un, so if you want to come at me with insults, try harder.
User avatar #159 - thinemother (12/18/2014) [-]
I would predict that not a lot of people would be too upset, I mean it's a comedy so it's not like anyone's gonna take it seriously. Plus we aren't into our leaders as much as they are so it'll wear off if it does cause outrage.
User avatar #135 - chopsofpork (12/18/2014) [-]
But you see comrade, they actually did release a movie about Bush being assassinated, now to be fair it did mostly deal with the aftermath of the assassination, but still a decent flick. My only complaint, about the movie till i see it is that they should have cast steven segall as the glorious leader.

The difference is that our leader is an elected official and there's is a dictator. It's not like the North Koreans are upset passed the fact that Little Kim is pissed.

Very well, I understand, but can you imagine how the media would paint it?
They would blow it way out of proportion (as they usually do) and I believe it would have a serious backlash.

American born and raised here...

If it was a comedy making fun of America and Obama I would take it at face value. It's an innocent jab at our culture. Fine.

If it were a serious film coming out of some other country, MAYBE I would be upset, but not really because it's not something that threatens me or my freedom directly.
#54 - stillhearingvoices (12/18/2014) [-]
Are you an American? Most Americans wouldn't care if there was a real assassination attempt on Obama let alone a movie. And remember kids GTA is misogynist because imaginary scenarios happen to females.
User avatar #61 - rabidcookiemonster (12/18/2014) [-]
Nope, not American, just a guy with an opinion on a politically dangerous film. Please don't group me with the feminists, it's not really relevant.
